Chapter 15

Sonic's POV

I was running. I had no idea where I was going or what I was doing, just running. My anger and sorrow being the only things that kept me moving.

My legs were throbbing, my head ached, and my eyes stung from the tears that I continued to shed while I ran, but the pain in my heart was the worst out of it all.

I couldn't believe what Shadow said. I almost didn't want to believe it at first, but after a while it all made sense. He didn't have to save me. No one in the facility said he had to, it was all only for his own advantage. He did it for himself and no one else and this entire time I believe his little charade.

I should have saw this coming though. I put my trust into one person. The first person I have ever trusted in almost two years and he does this to me. Its not fair! What did I do to deserve all of this? The pain, the misery, the torture, the suffering, why was it all directed to me of all people.

I mean I am the hero... or I use to be. This kind of stuff isn't supposed to happen to heroes. So why is it happening to me?!

I couldn't run anymore. My legs and lungs wouldn't let me. I was somewhere deep in the forest. I didn't know where, all I knew was that it was dark and dark is something I don't like.

My legs gave out casing me to collapse onto to cold hard ground, so I crawled on my hands and knees over to a tree and leant against it.

The wind began to pick up and swirl around me, making me shiver and cuddle up into a ball to preserve what little body heat I still manage to produce.

I had no idea what I was going to do now. I had no idea what was going to happen to me. I didn't no anything. I feel... I feel... I feel just like I did before...totally and utterly useless.

I began to cry again in a position that I was much to use to. I was lost, cold, and completely alone. My only friend in this whole world, a fraud and probably glad I'm out of his quills.

My eyes began to droop as I stated into the appending darkness that slowly began to surround me and eventually, after a while, I have into it and feel asleep since that is the only thing I'm good for now. " I hope that I never wake up..." I wish silently to myself as my body have away the sleep that I hoped would last forever.

Shadow's POV
Beads of sweat trickled down my face as i checked a bush for the umpteenth time that night, while Rouge flew, getting a bird's eye view of the surroundings below to see if she could see him anywhere.

Together I, along with her, had spend several hours checking holes, and bushes and trees and anything else a hedgehog of his capacity could fit and possibly hide in with little success.

I leaned against a tree out of painting hard out of breath as I ran a tired hand through my no longer neat head quills. Rouge was trying to convince me to call it quits and search again tomorrow, but me, being the stubborn guy that I am, refused. I knew Sonic was here and I wasn't gonna rest until I found him.

"Shadow please, you need to stop! Your running yourself ragged. Don't you think if Sonic was here we would have found him by now? You and I both know that he couldn't have gone this far in his condition so please why don't we rest up and check somewhere else tomorrow?"

I growled and mumbled a curse under my breath as her whining continued to agitate me, " Fine you go rest up and I'll keep looking for Sonic. I know he's here I can feel it..." Rouge put her hands on her hips after I said that and gave me one of her usual 'your crazy' looks.

"You feel it Shadow? Come on you feel it? Can you not hear yourself right now!? Your acting silly Shadow. How on mobius do you just know where Sonic is huh? Do you just have some sort of connection with him? Do you..." "Hush!" Rouge stands there with her mouth agape for a second, before she starts talking again, really pissed off this time.

Rouge's POV

"Oh I know you didn't just tell me to 'Hush' Shadow the Hedgehog! You know better then to..." " Hush I said "

He did it again! I can't believe it! He just told me to 'Hush' two times in a row and doesn't think anything of it. This boy is definitely gonna get it if he thinks he can talk to Rouge the Bat like that. I was just about to put him in his place when I heard something. Almost like voices or something.

"Shadow did you..." "Yes I did that's why I've been telling you to hush now hush and let me listen, please!" I let out a huff as I crossed my arms over my chest.

"It's coming from over that way!" He said as he pointed over to the right further into the woods. "What do you think it is?" "No idea but we're fixing to find out!" He says then skates over in the previously pointed out direction not a second later, leaving nothing but a red and black streak.

When I catch up to him, he is standing behind a tree with his back pinned to the trunk listening to something. "Shadow what are you?..." He cuts me off when he places a finger to his lips and motions a thumb for me to look behind the tree.

I do and see two men one dressed in lab coat while the other is dressed in some sort of army suit, or something along the line anyways. Both of them were looking down at some strange hand held device of some sort. I tried to listen to their conversation and all I could make out was 'device...planted...arm...track...capture...and experiment' and I did not like the sound of that. I looked over at Shadow and have him a worried look.

Shadow's POV

Rouge looked over at me once she finished ease dropping on the two strangers. I had heard what they were saying as well, so I gave Rouge on of my stern glares. She returned my glare with a nervous frown and we stayed like that for a moment. Just by looking at her furrowed brow and worry features I knew that we were both having the same thought. We got find Sonic!

At that moment I gave her the signal and we took of again looking for Sonic this time with new energy and a greater amount of determination pushing us forward. We has to find Sonic before those men do and I think I have a feeling of who those men are in the first place!
