I Will Protect You

Chapter 7

Shadow's POV
A few hours had passed since Sonic's little 'incident' over the pills. He had awoken and was just sitting silently in my lap starting at the wall. I didn't bother to say anything because one: I didn't want frighten him and two: I knew he just needed some time to himself even if it wasn't alone time.

If you listened payed close attention to him you could still hear small little sniffles coming from him and notice him shaking and this bothered me...a lot.

Even though I wasn't sure it was such a good idea I decided to speak," Sonic are you still on-edge about what happened?" He sat there in silence for a minute before slowly nodding his head.

I sighed mentally feeling terribly sorry for him and whatever types of torture he was put through. I began to feel a desperate need to comfort him for reason, so I began to gently stroke his quills.

Sonic tensed at the sudden gesture but eventually relaxed a bit and sunk back into my chest. I smirked as he let out little purrs and snuggled into my chest fur like a little kitten.

I repeated this action for a few more minutes before I decided to speak again," Feeling any better yet?" I asked as I waited for his reply.

To my dismay, he just nodded his head again. I sighed silently to myself as I continued to pet him, it seems like it's been ages since I heard his voice and I would give anything to hear it again.

I know what your thinking. Your thinking that I heard it when I was bringing him to the hospital and all the other times when he was crying or screaming or begging for mercy but that is not the voice  I want to hear.

The voice I want to hear is the smooth, cocky voice that always had a hint of sass and confidence in it at all times. I missed that voice with a passion.

Knowing that I won't be hearing his voice anytime soon, I sighed once more time before standing up holding him bridal style.

I didn't not was I going to accept the fact that is, I am going to get him talking again but I'm also going to let him take his time as well...for as long as I let him that is.

After I had a long discussion with the doctor about Sonic's mental and physical condition and how I should treat him while he is in this state, I signed Sonic out of the hospital and proceeded making my out of here and heard to home.

We were about halfway along with our journey, when I heard whimpering. I looked all around me searching for the source of the sound until I finally looked down and saw it was Sonic.

"Sonic are you ok?" His whimpers progressed into louder but still soft winces. I could see pain written all over his face as he scrunched up his nose and eyebrows. I became concerned at this seeing this and settled down in a path of luscious crisp grass and leaned his back against a rock that jutted out of the ground.

I stroked his head as I see arched his body for any open sores or lose stitching but found nothing which greatly confused me. I turned my attention back to Sonic and notice he was still in pain," Sonic what is wrong, please you have to speak to me or I can't help you!" I practically begged him as I noticed his pain increase.

Sonic pressed his body against the rock and continued to wince while closing and opening his mouth as if trying to find his voice. "M-my...l-legs...are burning...IT HURTS... M-MAKE IT STOP...P-PLEASE!!!!"

I sat stuck in place like a deer a the headlights for a moment. Sonic was screaming and streams of tears were falling down his cheeks soaking his muzzle. He clawed ferociously at his legs as if trying to tear them off but instead leaving little small agitated scratch marks all over where his fingers made contact with his sensation flesh. 

I finally unfroze from my state of shock and reached into my quills for a bag that the doctor had secretly given me while Sonic was asleep, for a situation such as this. I opened the bag and pulled out a bottle and popped open the cap and shook out a pill.

The pill itself was sort of like a sedative. It would put Sonic to sleep for a while but also relieve him of his pain and speed up his healing process.

I held the pill in between my fingers and brought it up to Sonic's face. He opened his eyes and began to squirm around as he tried to push the pill away.

"Now Sonic don't fight me you know I'm stronger then you. I know you don't like pills for some reason and I'm sure you'll explain to me the reason why later, but I need you to trust me. This pill is not bad I swear! It will make the pain go away and make you feel so much better I swear, you just have to trust me on this ok?"

Sonic stopped squirming for a minute and say there silently avoiding my gaze and wincing in pain every know and then. He finally returned his gaze back to me and with a hesitant nod, slowly cracked open his mouth wife enough for me to slip the pill in.

He struggled to swallow the pill for a minute due to the lack of moisture in his mouth but eventually succeeded.

About ten minutes later the pill finally started to take it's affect and Sonic started to rock in an out of consciousness.

I pulled him into my arms and held him in a warm embrace, where he yawned and finally have up and fell into a deep sleep.

I smirked at the peaceful looking hedgehog in my arms and kissed his forehead. I pet his quills earning a content sigh and a long purr from him.

I sighed to myself as I shook my head at the innocent looking hedgie in my arms,"oh Sonic what am I gonna do with you?" I chuckled before squeezing him tighter into a hug and resting my head on top of his.

------------------------------------Hey guys sorry it's been a few days since I last updated. I had a little but of writers block and had no idea what to write next. I have a pretty good grasp on things now so I don't think I'll be losing my place anytime soon. But auras I hope you guys can forgive me and I also hope y'all enjoy this chapter and tell me what y'all think.
