Rouge's POV
I nibbled on a sandwich as I strutted my way past the bottom of the staircase. I stopped in mid nibble though when I my foot came in contact with one of the steps and I very ungracefully landed on the staircase.

I let out an annoyed grunt as i pushed myself onto my knees and groaned as I swiped off the discarded pieces of tomato, cheese and lettuce off of my blouse leaving small stains behind on the places where they once were.

"Ugh Shadow should really give this place a good maintenance check, hmm I should clean this up..." I then finally stood up all the way and scanned around the house for anything that could possibly aid in cleaning my disemboweled sandwich that covered Shadow's stairs.

I huffed in confusion as I closed the fifth self in the kitchen that I had looked through. " What kind of person doesn't keep cleaning products in their kitchen?" I grumbled as I was clearly stumped on how to clean the mess up now.

My mind then abruptly changed course when a small creak from above my head made my ears twitch. " hmm? Well well, sounds like Shadow has a little something upstairs..." A sly, very mischievous grin slithered across my face as Shadow's warning popped into my head," well it is my duty as his friend and house sitter to make sure his home stays intruder free and in order for me to do a thorough job of that I have to make sure that every room is clear... I can't let the intruder get away with any 'interesting information' can I? What kind of a friend would I be?..." My ear twitched again when I heard a thump and a small groan,"...not a very good one indeed!" And with that I flew upstairs not even bothering to remember about the sandwich.

Sonic's POV
Everything is dark! I can't see a thing! I hate the dark I really really hate it with a undeniable passion. I squeeze my eyes shut and begin to panic as I kick and claw at the darkness trying to escape from it.

I start to freak out when the pitch black shield over me seems to close in around me entrapping me it's creepy, but surprisingly warm and comfortable grasp. " This is it... This is finally the end of Sonic the Hedgehog... I always knew if would like this, being swallow by one of the things I fear the most... I just wish that I had had the guts to tell Shadow thanks for all the hard work he's done for me and also...w-wait a minute!?"

I force open one of my eyes, just so I'm barely squinting out of it. I see the darkness surrounding me slowly disappear from around me as it slowly lifts away while beams of light replace the darkness with their warm sweet caresses.

I was just about ready to tackle Shadow in a 'thank-you-for-saving-me-from-my-nightmares-again-hug until my body froze in its movements when my emerald gaze met a confused and astonished atomic blue one. This was not the calming crimson gaze that I was hoping to make eye contact with.

"B-Big Blue? I-is that really you?" I whimpered and wished that the shadow monster, that turned out to be the bedspread by the way, would come back and swallow me whole just so I wouldn't have to go through this right now. I had absolutely no idea on what to do now 'Oh chaos Shadow please come back soon!'

Meanwhile with Shadow

'Why am I so nervous? No one knows the purpose for my arrival so why do I have such a strange feeling?' I scratched my head as I walked down the hallway of the facility, heading towards my target.

I finally reached the door to his office and barged right in without even asking for approval. There he was sitting at his desk staring at more useless paper.

He jumped surprised when I cleared my throat to make my presence known. " Huh? Oh Agent Shadow what brings you here you should be helping in searching for the lost experiment? "

I crossed my arms to give me more of an agitated appearance while on the inside I was rattling my brain for an excuse, when finally I got one. I fixed my rugged exterior and icy glare at the commander and let out a loud 'hmph' before rolling my eyes and answering him," I am well aware of what I am suppose to be doing at the moment Commander. My purpose for this unexpected arrival was to see that if there is any information that has been obtained about the experiment that will aid me in more of a upper hand in his capture?"

He looked at me suspiciously before answering, " hmm quite. You make a valid point Agent Shadow. Therefore I will give you access to his file but no more is that understood?" "Quite." I replied as he stood up from his desk and walked over to metal filing cabinet.

I took note in remembering the combination for, shall we say 'later purposes' and nodded my head in approval when he handed me Sonic's file. " Is this all you can here for Agent? " he glared at me once more as I slipped the file under my arm and turned around, but not before giving him a mocking salute.

"Yep, have a most pleasant evening commander." I said to him as I closed the door behind me, and gagged at the words of kindness I was forced to say to him. ' I will have to brush and rinse my mouth a thousand times before I get rid of that disgusting feeling that those words left in my mouth. I groaned as the thought of those kind words made me shutter.

I walked down several hallways until i reached my personal quarters. I eased  my tension a bit as i threw down my stuff and  relaxed on my couch. I pulled the file out from under my arm and stared at it, " all right let's see what answers your hiding in here you little confider of Sonic's fate."

I opened the manilla folder and read over the first page in the stack that just so happened to be all of Sonic's personal information. "This is going to be interesting..." I mumbled as I quirked up and eyebrow as I started to read.
