☽ Chapter nine☾
As soon as the door closed I leant my back against it and slid down to the floor. My head fell in my hands, heavy from all the thoughts that rushed into my conscience that I had refrained from thinking of before. What had I done? I could feel my inner wolf whine, as confused as I.
Philip and I had been best friends ever since we were little. Now I had just ruined our friend ship by adding wrong to our relationship. I had no idea where my actions came from, and now I was left with in an uncomfortable situation with Philip. Lately I had been screwing up royally in having normal regular days. I could feel something within me causing me to do these things. It was probably my instincts, but then why would my wolf feel the way it does now? Confused and unsure as it was now.
Without even realizing it my fingers were subconsciously brushing against my lips remembering what Philips’s had felt like against mine mere moments ago. Oh, and Philip! He says he had always felt this way about me, but at this moment the thought of me and Philip together sent a shiver of immoral spiraling down my spine.
I bit my lip and looked down at my basket by my side. I saw the invitation menacingly awaiting me to notice it. I could never reject a request for the alpha female Cristina’s name day, especially after I had said I would attend. If I did so it would be downright ungrateful. I then noticed the fabric I had purchased at the market. I let out a gasp and reached for it, praying the rain hadn’t ruined the beautiful work of art. But as I pulled it out of the basket, I noticed that the water had just beaded and fell right of the cloth.
I let out a sigh of relief but then decided to get to work on the dress I was going to make with the large bundle of fabric. I was certain that the dress I was going to make would be the one I would wear to the Alistair’s event.
I walked up the stairs and from under the bed I pulled out the box that held everything I would need to complete my dress. Then I got to work, cutting and stitching. The dress already a perfect guideline in my mind ready to come to life by my fingers.
Hours passed on and soon darkness was outside a bright glowing quarter moon in the sky. I had the basics of the dress ready when I heard a slight ringing in the distance, slightly muffled by the roaring claps of thunder in the sky.
Ring! Ring! Ring!
I knew the bells all too well, they were the training bells. I let out an angered sigh when I realized that today was, in fact a training day but I figured it would be canceled on account of the weather. but now with our new stage in preparation, they probably thought we would need to learn how to do everything that we train for no matter what the weather. In quick haste I left my work as it was and bolted out of the stone house, the door slamming in time with another clap of thunder. I ran.
The rain blurring my vision and the lightning making my heart race. I lifted my dress skirts and ran though the rain in the general direction of where the forest was. I was assured I had made it to the woods when I heard the wet sound of mud under my feet. With ragged breath, I peeled off my sopping wet dress. The delicate red that it had been when it was dry, now looked like blood with the deep scarlet that it now was. I hung the dress on a wide limb of the closest tree to me, making sure that it wouldn’t get covered in mud.
