  Chapter thirteen

I pulled away from the rogue, my snout was wet with his blood. I spat at the sharp taste of it on my tounge. Retreating away from the carcass i watched as others did the same, their hunger of hate and blood sustained. The rogue was left a mangled massacre, others still tearing and ripping. Not to feed the hunger of meat, but to feed the hunger of anger towards this creature going against our pack. This hunger felt so new to me, i ran my tounge against my teeth. They felt heavy in my mouth.

Sitting on my haunches i gazed at the rogue through the gaps between other wolves. This was our first kill. A real kill. Not some useless animal like a deer, but a rogue. It was a pack kill, i looked up at the half moon above us,a pack night. The power that resonated between us felt almost alive. I wanted more of it. How this felt so strong and almost surreal, my instincts running on high.

Philip emerged from the mass of wolves, looking dangerous, and a wild glint in his green eyes that my instincts itched to embrace. The muscles in his back were taught against his sandy fur, his muzzle dipped in scarlet that looked black in the moonlight.

My eyes flicked back towards the body, only a few were left still wanting to feed their hunger, i noticed the stark while wolf's teeth still hacking away. Still angry. The thought of rogues just triggered something inside of us that felt wrong, the thought  of being a rogue made me sick. It was like we were wired to feel this way towards them.

Philip drew closer, my eyes locked on his. He looked so powerful and deathly at this very moment, like a true alpha. His gaze so intense that i had to look away from it. I looked down at the dried foliage on the ground.

A large presence was next to me and i dared to look up. Philips snout barely a few inches from my own. He exhaled and his breath was visible in this cold air, the scent tickled my nose. It was his normal one, but it also held the a faint trace of blood. This night felt it was all about blood.

Philip nipped at my neck gently and i jumped, i scanned around looking to see if anyone eles had noticed the ordeal. No one could see us in public it was forbidden. I turned away from him and tried to put some distance between us. Philip wouldn't allow it though. He stalked closer a dangerous look in his eyes, a look of want. His instincts had completely overridden him. Philip nipped me lightly in the side, a look of annoyance flashing in his eyes, i narrowed my own.

A growl resonated through me, i tried to put as much power as possible in it. Philip reached me again, his desire clouding him and slight anger. At who? Towards me? Because i wouldn't allow his affection in front of the pack. I was doing it all for him in the first place, just so he would be able to fight for his right as an alpha.

As he came even closer i growled, bearing my teeth. Philip didn't like this at all. He grew angry, very much so. A growl sounded lowly in him, and i grew afraid immediately. I raised my head a little higher and acted like it didn't faze me, i backed away from the scene. I did want him, I truly did. But he knew we couldn't be together publically, this entire thing was forbidden. I turned away but the unthinkable happened. Philip sank his teeth into my hind leg right through the muscle. I could feel how deep each fang went.

The bite felt horrendous, I yelped loudly and tried to pull away but Philip wasn't moving his jaw anytime soon. I cried out loudly, swiveling my head I bared my teeth at Philip for a moment before i just gave up. I wasn't prepared for the bite, which made it that much more worse was that it was from Philip, my Philip. His instincts had been in complete control.

Others seemed to take note as to what happened and they started to wonder as to what was going on. Philip sank his teeth deeper, i tried suppressing the cry but it ripped through me. In a way i felt almost betrayed by him. Never in my life have i ever faught Phlip, nor has he ever injured me.

A new growl was added to this scenario and i watched at Mason came stalking forward, his teeth bared to Philip. Philip withdrew his teeth, and Mason snarled at him. His eyes showing complete anger towards him. Philips jaw dripped with fresh blood when he snapped back at him. My hind leg was in such blinding pain I couldn't put any weight on it, resulting in me collapsing. I noticed Mason's eyes flicker towards me, before he charged at Philip.

They tumbled and i watched as Mason swiped his claws against his brother's side. Philip snarled and went to retaliate, but before he could. Carlisle stepped through the threshold of the trees. He spared a glance to the rogues body, a proud look igniting in his eyes. But the look was completely washed away when he noticed  Mason and Philip, and finally me.

"What happened here?" Carlisle asked deathly calm. I looked away and glanced at Theodore, his eyes intently on me with a look of concern. I shakily got back up on my legs. Theodore stepped forwards and pressed his side to mine, keeping me up. I gave a slight bow of my head in thanks to him.

"Well?" Carlisle asked again, his tone growing slightly in anger. Mason stepped forwards and spoke through the mind link to Carlisle. Carlisle’s eyes narrowed slightly and looked at Philip.

"You are left together alone to take down a rogue, and you attack your own team mate?" His tone dripped disappointment and Carlisle leant forward to say something to Mason. Mason gave a curt nod and trotted towards us. My eyes narrowed at him as he nudged Theodore in the shoulder, telling him to move. Mason moved to my side and directed me out of the forest, I warily accepted his help.

Your bleeding a lot.  Mason commented when we passed the trees, i rolled my eyes and huffed.

Great.  I too had noticed this, the signs of  it were obvious. The heavy breathing and the foggy vision.

My feet stumbled slightly and Mason helped me get me back on their right path. I glanced into his yellow eyes, they glowed gold in the night, his warmth radiated through me against his side.

I am sorry on behalf of Philip.  Mason said quietly his gaze looking straight ahead. Something in my heart pulled because i knew that it wasn't Philip's fault. But another part of me felt like it had been disappointed. I responded to Mason flatly.

    Yeah, me too.
