As November turned into December we were getting ready for Lilly's first Christmas. Much to my disgust Connors parents were coming down. Something about wanting to be with their granddaughter for Christmas. I don't know, all I knew was that 2 days before their arrival on the 22nd December. I kicked James, Connor and Lilly out for the afternoon and got Jodie and Charlotte in to help me blitz the house from top to bottom. James bless him had done his room (the attic room, he did have plans to move out at some point I just didn't know when, and if I was honest I didn't want him to move out). He'd done it to my level of clean. All I had to do up there was hover and clean the bathroom. Which was fine.
It took me, Jodie and Charlotte a day and a half to do the whole house and by the end of it I was really proud of our efforts. Having two friends with OCD pays off.
Thankfully Connors parents weren't staying with us it would have meant kicking James out of his bed. Which I wasn't doing. We had told Connors parent that James wasn't going home for Christmas this year (which was true) and that they would have to find somewhere else to stay. I was so glad they weren't staying with us. Connor's dad Rob could have stayed, but his mum Alice still doesn't like me very much.
22nd December. A day I had been dreading ever since Alice and Rob had announced they were coming to stay. It was just me and Connor in the house James, Brad and Trist had taken Lilly on her weekly walk around the country side the surrounded Exeter. Normally me and Connor plus Charlotte and Michael would go with them but because Rob and Alice were coming we thought it was best that we didn't go, but I didn't want to break the routine for Lilly so the boys had taken her. Which was fine because they were normally out for most of the day which gave me a chance to finish sorting the house out.
"Where's my granddaughter?" Alice said when Connor opened the door to his mum.
"Hello to you to mum." Connor said
"Hello dear. So where is my granddaughter?" She said again
"Out mum." Connor said
"Where? Why?" Alice said
"She's out with the boys." Connor said
"Out with the boys. What do you mean?" Alice said
"I mean that James, Brad and Trist have taken Lilly out for the afternoon." Connor said
"Well that's stupid. You knew we were coming why did you send her out?" Alice said
"Becasue we always go out for a walk on a Wednesday. Lilly is like me and she doesn't like change. Plus the boys like taking her out." Connor said
"Ridiculous." Alice said
I was stood just out of view listening. I took a deep breathe braising my self for what was about to come.
"Are they okay to look after infant?" Alice said
"Mum they're more than capable of looking after Lilly. They're with her a lot of the time." Con said
"Really." Alice said sounding surprised
"Yes mum." Connor said
I took another deep breathe then came out of my little hide away
"Hey Alice nice to see you again." I said smiling
"Yeah what ever. Why is my granddaughter out for the day?" Alice said
"Connor told you. The boys took her out." I said staying calm.
"Well then they will be called back right now. I want to meet my granddaughter." Alice said
