"Will you open it already," Shelby jumped up and down in the middle of the parking lot like a little girl. Kathryn observed the envelope a little bit longer to make an anxious Shelby go crazy. "Kat," She continued to whine causing her best friend to laugh. Oliver tried to catch the tiny waist of his twin sister so that he could stop her from jumping but he hardly had the reflexes to catch her.
"I think you should open it before Shelby loses it," Oliver chuckles while trying to grab her shoulders.
"I don't know," Kat contemplated, "Kind of curious as to how she badly she loses it.
"Kat!"
"Alright, Alright," She started opening the envelope slowly. Shelby stopped jumping and clasped her hands together; she couldn't contain her excitement. "Let me take a few guesses. Is it a barnes and noble card, forever 21 card, itunes card. Money for a new car," She threw out half kidding.
"Please," Shelby rolled her eyes, "We're poor. Your lucky we had enough money to buy you one gift."
Kat cried out in laughter as she scratched the rest of the envelope open and a ticket slid onto the palm of her hand. She gasped as she read the information and shrieked in excitement, "You got me a ticket to September 25th's Mariinsky's rendition of Swan Lake! Oh my gosh," She continued to scream and ear piercing scream and jumped up and down along with Shelby. Oliver stared at the two of them for a while. "That's tonight! I'm going to the ballet tonight."
"Happy birthday," He spoke nonchalantly and awkardly off to the side. "It's not like I paid for half of it or anything."
The two simmered down and Kathryn wrapped her arms around his neck and dug her head into his chest, "Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!" Oliver chuckled and let his arms wrap around her waist. Shelby coughed to separate them and release herself from the awkwardness her brother bestowed on them. Kat released and was too excited to realize that Oliver had lingered a little too long. "I love you guys so much! I mean I've waited so long to see this ballet. And it's happening tonight!" She screamed again, her skin going completely red because of her struggle to breathe. "Oh my god," Kat stopped immediately as if she realized something, "Tonight!"
"Yeah," Shelby nodded slowly, "Tonight. I think we established that already."
"Shelby," She screamed, "I have absolutely nothing formal to wear. I mean, it's a ballet; you have to wear something nice! I mean I may have gotten a new wardrobe over in Hawaii but not anything formal. I can't go to the play like this." She gestured to the cute ensemble she had on at that moment in disgust. Sure, it was cute for school. Daisy dukes and a razor back shirt were laid back and eye catching for school but if she were to arrive dressed like that to the ballet, she would have been chewed out by the old ladies that adored going to ballets.
"Chill," She demanded, "Come over to my house after school and I have the amaing dress, you'll be dying to wear."
Oliver interrupted in his best impersonation of a girly voice, "And I can do your nails, hair, and make up. It'll be just like a sleepover!" He screeched and then immediately frowned, "I need guy friends."
"Aw," Kat pouted, "Poor Oliver. Look at my tiny little violin, playing your sad song that nobody cares about."
Oliver laughed mockingly at the strike of his ego, "Cute."
"I know I am."
She popped her heel and then pushed her leg forward to take her first stride away from them. Knowing she had to get to class, she left with out saying goodbye. Now waiting in anticipation for the ballet, Kathryn had to endure an agonizing eight hours of school. When she got to the locker, she wasn't expecting to be greeted with so many Happy Birthdays. After three birthdays in High School that she went unnoticed it, it was nice for a little change. Maybe dressing better does attract more positive attention, she shrugged it off and grabbed a notebook before walked towards homeroom. She had to get through the last day of the week before entering the best weekend of her life. Okay, so that was overreacting but it was going tobe better than going to school every day.
