“Get a room,” Shelby opened Kathryn’s locker and slammed it to get their attention, “You make me sick.” Dylan and Kathryn were making out before school just like they did every day for the past few weeks.
At Redview High, everyone knows when there is a new couple. Instead of shying away like any normal couple, these two made put on a show for everyone like they were some sort of new and extraordinary exhibit no one has ever seen before. They thought everyone wanted to see them eating each other faces but in reality everyone can’t wait to see the day that these two end it. It was obvious that the relationship wasn’t going to last because they were moving way to quickly.
“Shelby,” Kathryn laughed, “Don’t be jealous.” Her words pierced her best friend but she chose not to react. Kathryn was holding onto his face like he was the cutest thing in the world causing Shelby to gag inside. “Don’t like want you see? Then leave.”
“No Babe,” Dylan interjected with a quick peck, “I have to see the counselor before class but I’ll see you in English.” He pecked her cheek again before leaving but Kathryn lingered in a daze. Again, the annoyed best friend opened her locker and slammed it again to get her attention.
“What’s your problem,” Kathryn asked in more of joking matter than serious.
“My problem,” She stared at her in awe, “You’re acting like a middle school girl with an impossible and disgusting crush.” She crossed her arms in annoyance as she stared at her best friend. In a way, she understood Kat’s honeymoon stage because it was only her second relationship and the first one was more of a joke than anything. Although she was happy for her, she wished that she’d snap out of it because she hasn’t actually spent time with her since before she left this summer. “Walk with me to my locker.”
“That’s all the way across campus,” Kathryn pouted leaning against the locker and playing with her new “sexy” clothes. From the beginning of the year, she’s gained more attention from guys then her teachers. People are starting to notice her for her looks rather than her intelligence and Kathryn is actually starting to enjoy it.
“Your class is there anyways,” Shelby reasoned with her and Kathryn reluctantly agreed.
The whole way to her locker, Kathryn would not shut up. “Things with Dylan and I are going really well. I mean I didn’t think I’d like a guy like him but he’s really funny, intelligent, and sweet. He’s generous, too,” She sighed happily, “God, Shelby, I wish you could see how generous he is. He made me lunch today because I stayed up late last night talking to him and probably wasn’t going to wake up on time.”
“That’s no nice,” She spoke half-heartedly interested and full heartedly annoyed but Kat was blinded by her fascination with her new boyfriend that she failed to notice.
“I know right,” Kat laughed like an annoying peppy school girl, “This weekend we are going to watch that Romeo and Juliet remake with the girl from Downtown Abbey.”
“Didn’t you see that last weekend,” Shelby asked.
Kat’s lips curled into a smirk, “Well we didn’t really watch it, if you know what I mean.”
Cringing, she replied, “Ew, mental image.”
Kathryn laughed, “Not like that; we just made out.”
“Again,” Shelby cringed, “Mental image.”
Finally, they reached Shelby’s locker but Kathryn still could not shut up about her boyfriend. She was like a love sick puppy and Shelby had never wanted to kick a puppy in all her life until this very moment. She hadn’t really been that bad but after the past two years of being ignored it was starting to get on her nerves.
