“Dad,” She cried while plopping herself on the couch, “I don’t know what to do!”
He couldn’t help but laugh as she explained the entire story to him. The predicament that she was in was so juvenile and she thought it was so important. “Dad, it’s not funny! It’s serious.” She frowned annoyed.
“Kathryn,” He shook his head still amused, “You are so young and you have all the time in the world to worry about dating yet you choose to worry about it now? Have you even thought about college yet?”
“Who could think about college when I’m dealing with all of this,” She frowned. Her dad stood up and paced the room ready to lecture her.
“That’s exactly what I’m saying, sweetheart,” He shook his head, “You’re so consumed of your life right now that you don’t even know which college you’re going to enroll in. Even though you should attend the UCLA.”
“Dad,” She groaned.
“I’m just saying,” He shrugged, “That where your mother and I met.”
“That’s not important right now,” She frowned, “I’m trying to figure out what to do about Oliver and Damien.”
“I thought you were angry with Damien,” He reminded.
“I was,” Kathryn responded, “But a lot has happened since then.”
“And what about Oliver,” Mr. Baxter prompted, “What are these emotions with him?”
“He’s my best guy friend,” She frowned, “What am I supposed to do? I can’t just say no because it’ll ruin my friendship with him and Shelby.”
“Well it sounds like you’re in a nutshell,” He frowned, “Have fun with that.” He turned and started to walk away.
“Dad,” She sang in the whiniest voice possible, “Please be useful.”
“Honey,” He sighed, “What do you want me to say? I’m your father! I don’t like the idea of you dating anyway. If Trent was here; he’d probably give you great advice. Remember those two girls that were chasing him?”
“He ended up dating both of them to see which one he was going to stay with.”
“Really,” He laughed, “That’s awesome!”
“That’s terrible!”
“Well it worked out for him, remember?’
“Yeah, but that doesn’t fit my situation,” She frowned, “I don’t want to date Oliver.”
“Don’t knock it until you try it.”
She remembered how easy it was for Trent. He came home one day after a date with Ashley and then the next day he went out with Kim. He came home after that date and Kathryn yelled at him. “You’re despicable.”
“What,” He laughed.
“You’re cheating on both of them.”
“Calm down,” He replied, “It’s only for a week until I decide who I actually like.”
“Why don’t you just not go out with either of them?”
“You’ll understand some other time,” He waved her off, “When you’re older and not so naïve.”
A week later, he came home and he was officially dating Kim. It made her furious that Trent could get away with almost anything! He could always get away with cheating on tests, girls, and life. It’s too bad that he couldn’t cheat death.
Kathryn frowned at the thought of what she had decided to do. She had decided to date the both of them.
TEAM OLIVER OR TEAM DAMIEN??? LOL this was a terrible chapter; I thoroughly apologize for this crapness. I needed a filler.
