The rest of the week was a calming experience. She hadn’t faced Damien because he was absent and Shelby and Oliver were just not having it with her but other than that it was fine. Ana and Ashton made plans to go with her to church on Sunday and she was excited about it.
On Saturday, Dylan swept her off her feet and took her to a Harvest Festival. They played games and went on rides together but most of all they walked around and talked. Kathryn loved talking with him. She felt comfortable with him. Finally, after not knowing the past few days, she had to ask, “Why did Damien have an awful week this past week? I asked if he was okay and he told me to ask you.”
“What,” He thought about it for a moment, “Oh, I think you’re talking about Wednesday, right? Before school, he came up to me and yelled at me. He’s just really angry that I’m dating you,” He shrugged, “He thinks of you as his property.”
“Oh,” She frowned, “Sorry for bringing it up.”
“No, it’s fine,” He frowned, “I understand your concern, but let’s not think about him for the rest of the night, okay? I’d like one night where it’s just you and me.”
“I’d love that, too,” She smiled as he took her hand and rushed her over to the next game. For the entire night, they laughed and had fun. It was something simple but really sweet. He proved to be such a gentleman the entire night and he topped it off by walking her home.
“There’s a party next weekend,” He started but before he could continue Kathryn interrupted.
“I thought that the whole party thing wasn’t our scene,” She teased but in reality was dead serious.
“It’s not,” He added, “But it’s the party of the year and I want to show off my girlfriend.”
“Even though you do it like every day at school.”
“Exactly!”
“I don’t know, Dylan,” She shook her head.
“Please, Kat,” He begged.
“I’ll go next week if you come to church with Ashton, Ana, and I tomorrow,” She proposed.
“I would,” He said, “But my grandma is flying in tomorrow and I’m picking her up from the airport.”
“Oh,” She frowned. “Then I guess that party is a no go.”
“Kathryn,” He whined a little, “Please.”
“Fine, I’ll go.”
He kisses her happily, “Goodnight, beautiful.” She then walks in her house and attempts not to scream from having such a great night but fails when her Dad walks in.
“How was your night?”
She screams in response and he throws up his hands, “Sorry I asked.”

The church experience with Ana and Ashton was really interesting. They went to the youth service and Ana had a lot of question to ask the leader. She talked the leader’s ear off but he waswilling to help as much as he could. Ashton and Ana really listen to the speaker and just bore their selves in.
