I walked quickly into school by myself, I decided to walk instead of getting a lift off Mollie just to clear my head. I looked around nervously trying to see if anyone was staring, aniexty was really taking over me today.
Who would send texts like that to me? Who knows about my Mom? The only people who I told are the people who I love, so no one would do anything like this to me, would they? Who likes Cole...
I was abit late today since I walked so I quickly walked over to my locker to get ready for class.
"Your hair is extra frizzy today" A voice laughed, Cole.
"How come you didn't reply to my text?" He asked before even letting me reply to the frizzy comment
I turned around quickly startled by the voice and there was Cole, shit what do I say.
"I, erm, ran out of texts" I muttered
"Yeah, that's why" He sighed, obviously knowing I was lying
Why was he so bothered, could he actually like me?
"I really did Cole, I get them back tomorrow" I smiled
"Good, because if you were smart you wouldn't ignore me, I am Cole Chapman after all" He smirked
I couldn't help but laugh and shake my head, I looked around to check if anyone could see us together.
"You okay? You're looking pretty nervous today" He laughed
"Y-yeah" I stuttered
He raised an eyebrow but I just ignored him and we walked to class, what if it's someone in my class? Walking in with him would not be the best choice. But what can I possibly say to him?!
"I erm, left something in my locker Cole I'll meet you in class" I muttered
"It's okay I'll come with you, I hate Math anyway" He shrugged
Why doesn't this boy get the message!
"Oh wait, found it" I shyly smiled
He raised an eyebrow again and we both sadly walked into class. Please who ever you are don't be in my class.
"Cole and Summer, where have you been!" Mr Jones yelled
"Sorry Sir, woke up late" I muttered
"Me too" Cole answered
Everyone started to whistle as it seemed like we had spent the night together since we both coincidentally slept in and walked in together, oh please who ever you are really do not be in my class otherwise I am dead after that. Redness took over my face and I quickly scurried to my seat between Mollie and Sarah.
"What's happening there ey?" Sarah smirked
"Nothing we just walked in together" I laughed
I couldn't let the girls know something was going on, because they'd take it way out of proportion and go on a whole school inspection, I can take care of this myself, although I'm not doing a very good job up too now.
"What's up Sum?" Mollie asked curiously
"Nothing, just tired" I yawned
Wow I am a pretty good actor.
Another boring hour of Maths passed which was never going to help me in my life, when will I need to know what x is? Exactly, never.
**
Thank god I'm home, and I managed to avoid Jake all day! Not that I'm happy about it, because it was a pretty boring day without him, how did I manage to cope before I spoke to him?
"Summer" My Mom softly spoke
I haven't spoke to her since the note I read from her about attending classes to help her stay sober. It's been 3 days and she hasn't touched any alcohol, well, I hope.
"What" I muttered
I know I should be proud of her and everything, but you can't just forgive someone straight away when they've made your life a living hell, right? Even if it is your Mom, it takes time.
"Please can we talk" She asked
"Go ahead" I answered
I could atleast hear her out. We walked into the kitchen and sat down.
"Summer, I don't know where to start. I've been in no way a Mother to you, I don't even deserve you, you've looked after me all these years when it should be the other way around."
"Yep" I agreed
"And I've brought danger into our home without even thinking about you, now I know it's going to take time and patience for you to forgive me, if you ever even do because I'd understand if you didn't"
Tears began to form in her eyes, why was I feeling sorry for her?
"But it's been 3 days now without any alcohol, and I think I can make it longer, I want to make you proud and show you I can be a proper Mom. Everything with your Father and Travis passing just got to me sweetie, I know it shouldn't have but how can a Mother go on with her child passing and her Husband splitting up from her? If you weren't here Summer, I don't think I would have made it"
I could feel the lump in my throat now, my Mom was actually thinking about killing herself? Thank god I didn't walk out on her, because truthfully I wouldn't know what to do without her, even if she did nothing for me.
She was sobbing now and I could feel tears falling down my cheeks.
"Sorry Summer I'm not crying to get sympathy, you just go upstairs and we'll talk about this later if you want ok?" She cried while turning around and leaning on the sink
"Mom you've made my life a living hell" I sobbed
"I know darling" She cried harder
"But if you can show me you've changed, then I'll be willing to forgive you" I spoke while wiping away my tears
She turned around quickly and ran over to me, engulfing me in a hug. I hadn't had one of these in years and it felt amazing to hug my Mom again.
"I'll show you hon, I'll make you the proudest daughter ever, thank you so much" She smiled while kissing me on my head
"I've got work, so I'll see you when I'm home" I smiled
She smiled back at me and I went upstairs to get changed. Wow my life was really weird this month.
