Ember's Pov

"Bliss" I said slowly. "Give. It. The fish" I spoke through gritted teeth. "But... I love this fish.." Bliss's voice was more soft and uncertain than normal and I knew why. Within the week she had it, she had used it as a even bigger excuse to make crappy puns about fish and water. She even named it. Kevin was the name of this red and white koi in question. I took another step back trying not to disturb the thing in front of me. "Bliss just give it the friken fish! I'll get you another one" Vixen's green eyes flashed at her with a look of anger and slight fear. Bliss sighed in defeat knowing that being alive was more important that a fish that she could get a replica of and stepped forward.

Although Bliss was relatively tall, against the beast in front of her, she was a the size of a small child. Her white hand shook out of fear and some sadness and with a quick motion, flicked the fish in the opposite direction. The red eyed beast watched her with interest as she did so. This very beast in question wasn't smart despite its size. If anything, it was very stupid. Even more than me on a bad day.

The beast was about the size of a house and covered in thick gray fur with some sort of weird protection under it. Somehow it was able to stand and almost beat us even with Bliss's magic, Vixen's sword and arrows and my knifes (and fancy footwork) then this thing was strong. Honestly, it looked a lot like a dog or wolf... Thingy.

The scariest thing about it wasn't the huge claws or fangs that could eat all of us within seconds, it was the fact that the beast had glowing red eyes. I mean sure all that other stuff was bad but the eyes really bothered me. Creepy.

Finally after a couple moments of the beast staring at us, it turned and ran after the fish. We did the smart thing and ran the other way and stop until we were long gone.

"HOLY CRAP THAT WAS CLOSE" Vixen exclaimed loudly panting after we stopped. "Try doing it carrying all the heavy stuff." Bliss murmured, readjusting her large backpack.. "Oh, by the way, you owe me one Kevin replacement" She huffed, clearly mad but if I knew her, she would forgive us by tomorrow.

She could never stay mad at us for too long.

"Anyways, remind me to scout out a cave first before trying to settle and" Bliss's blue eyes looked up as she fished through her long blue cloak and finally pulled out a thick piece of worn out paper. It was old and wrinkly and I knew exactly what it was. "Here's the map. Let's see" She unfolded it carefully and laid it out on a nearby stump. "We are here" She pointed out on the map as me and Vixen both crouched down on two different sides of the stump.

"Where are we trying to go again?" Bliss asked us. Vixen groaned loudly and rolled her eyes. "I swear Bliss, I told you five times. We are headed to the east mountains into this village to stay for a couple of days to restock on supplies and then we leave again. Sheesh" Vixen pointed out each of the locations mentioned to give her friend the visual.

"Right. I knew that" Bliss nodded. Vixen smirked to herself and got up. "Okay, the sun is going down. Who's got first watch?" She asked us. "I'll go" I offered. Both of them agreed and we set up camp. Soon, a small shelter was set up complete with sleeping arrangements, a place to put the excess stuff down, our weapons (which had Vixen's light sword, her bow and quiver full of arrows, Bliss's and my daggers, Bliss's short sword that she never used but refused to give up, and my other sharp stuff that could throw) and food, which Bliss was currently cooking meat most likely the bunnies we killed yesterday. Even though I felt guilt for helping kill the cute and innocent creatures, I was hungry.

"And we are done!" Bliss smiled at her work as she took the bunnies off the stick they were cooking on and handed one to each of us. I bit into the meat and was happy with what I got. It's flavor was savory and although it was salted a bit more than I liked, Bliss had done a good job. "Good job!" I gave her a cheesy smile and a thumbs up getting a even bigger smile than before. "This is actually not crappy and burnt! Amazing work Bliss" Vixen grinned and winked at the girl with honey colored hair.

Although Vixen often playfully teased us and was hard to get up in the morning, I knew that she would die for us. Plus, she's saved our butts more times than I can count. After eating the well cooked meat, Vixen and Bliss both turned in and laid down in their respective beds.

Within half an hour, Vixen was fast asleep and maybe Bliss too. I can never tell when she's sleeping.... Bliss's body was somewhat muscular and not muscular at the same time which i had no idea was possible. She was fairly strong but only used her strength in times of need, relying on her magic more than it. She had very long hair that almost reached her legs. Like normal, she wore a blue cloak that went a little past her knees and had a hood, a pair of black pants to go under it, her red amulet with strange symbols and boots. I'm pretty sure that her clothing did help with her magic but I am not totally sure. She was currently snuggled up in her blanked like a small kitten. I still couldn't tell if she was asleep or just laying there.

Vixen was stronger than Bliss and me. Although she was the shortest (And sometimes had a SHORT temper. Hehe, I got to tell Bliss that one) she was strong. She had very short hair that covered part of her forehead that was slightly ginger and brown. Her armor was very different from Bliss's and worked more as actual protection. It was kinda like pads protecting her whole body. It was worked really well with her given that she tends to take more hits than me and Bliss combined and she could move fast in it. Although the both of them wore very different clothing, they did have one very visible thing in common. A bracelet made of a very strong string that cradled a slightly glowing gem was around both their wrists and mine.

After a while, I realized I was staring at both of them for a long time and quickly jerked my head away. Crap I thought. Dang it Ember stop daydreaming! After hours passed, my shift was finally up and I walked up to my friend. "Psst. Hey! Bliss!" I shook her until she finally stirred. "Ember? What?" She sat up wiping her eyes in confusion. "Your turn" I told her and left for my bed as the mage slowly got up and walked over to a tree and slumped against it. "Okay. I got this." She yawned a bit but was slowly waking up more. "Go to bed Ember" I didn't need to be told twice and happily laid down and slipped into unconsciousness.
