Chapter 9- Promises And Bagels

Bliss's Pov

The last couple of days were pretty normal. We traveled through the mountains, to Ember's liking. She always did prefer anything other than the swamp. Then again, she preferred the mountains to anything so, I guess the choice was very easy. We didn't encounter any monster which was a relief but I suspect that means that there are so much more to come.

We got lost twice and almost drowned once and I'm not sure how give that the water was three feet deep.

Finally, the team of WIND was almost at our destination. "Only one mile to go!" I grinned as I told the team. We were all very exhausted.

"Here we are." I spoke out loud mostly to myself but told the other's anyways. Even if they already knew, which they did. We instantly went to work finding out the nearest place to stay and crashed there. Literary. We walked right into the door. Apparently it was Pull, not Push like most of these places.

That was the first unusual thing about this town.

We payed for a couple of days and entered the room. It was standard stuff. Pretty big and empty having only an empty closet, three beds, two tables with a total of six chairs and flowers in a vase on the table. A pretty sweet plumbing system was near by as well, or at least I thought so. Vixen however, could careless.

Instead she focused on the really nice bed by falling on it purposely and falling asleep. Like I said, we were exhausted. I yawned and retreated to mine as well. Ember was about to leave and go explore, not being tried but I quickly stopped her. "We don't know anything about this town and If it has dangers." I reminded her. "Plus," I add looking down. "Maybe it's best you stay inside at night." Anxiety started to affect my whole body. What if something happens again? I don't know If I could see Vixen or Ember in that state. Not just become a statue but maybe even worse? I would do anything to make sure that didn't happen.

I snapped back to reality just enough to see Ember reluctantly turn her back on the door and laid on her bed. A quick breath of relief exited my mouth as I placed my head gently on my pillow. I shifted my whole body to it's side and snuggled myself closer to the warmth of the blanket. My eyelid became heavy and my blinks slower until they shut and didn't open up for a long time.

Dreams started to slowly edge into my mind, images flashing and not making sense.

Screams filled my head in this dream which had never happened to me before. Female screams. Then shouts, presumed from the same person. She called my name over and over again but everything for me was pitch black. As if my vision had failed me when I needed it most. The voice was frantic but I found it kinda soothing in a way.Then, strong hand clutched my sides and the voice turned angry. But something told me that it wasn't at me. I heard her screech. The hands put me on the cold and what felt like marble ground followed by quick footsteps.

The footsteps got a little softer as if they were leaving then a loud slapping noise, stomping and the sound of several unknown object breaking. The ground beneath me shook for a moment as well. I was so confused and wanted to open my eyes so badly but when I tried, bright lights filled my retinas and pain filled my head. What is happening? Why did I want the voice to come back? Why was it's very presence so..

Pacifying?

I heard my name and some other words but I could barely make them out. This voice wasn't the voice I felt comfortable with. It was... Bone Chilling in a way. Like the voice itself had struck fear in my heart in way I couldn't explain. The footsteps came back and arms wrapped around me once again. I tried one more time to open my eyes. The pain this time was bearable and I barely made out someone with long hair and a concerned pale face. "Oh Bliss." The words echoed as my vision darkened making everything blurry. The eyes of this female began to tear up just a bit.
