Latin's Pov

The trio all had different reactions. Ember, who was taking a sip of her drink nearly choked, Bliss's eyes widened so much they looked like they could fall out and Vixen slammed her head against the table.

"NOPE, NOPE, NOPE-ITY NO NO NOPE! NOPE VILLAGE!" Ember was the first to say.

"Please no...." Bliss whispered.

"WHYYYYYYY" Vixen groaned loudly.

"Is it really that bad?" I wondered out loud. "YES!" They screamed back getting many weird looks from the citizens around us. "Oh gosh why... I was so... Ugh" The warrior shuttered getting both of her teammates to agree with her instantly. "Too late! I really want to hear it now!" Paige smirked a bit.

They looked at each other and sighed in defeat. "Fine... Only because you saved us." Vixen complied. She took a deep breath in before beginning. "About eight years ago, I was in BlackRock, my home town."

Vixen's Pov

{About Eight Years In The Past}

BlackRock was the city of many things. It was the heart of Ryn, the main trade center, the biggest city, where the king and queen lived with their royalty and yet it was probably also the place where I would die. Most likely today because once AGAIN I am late.

I really need to stop sleeping in.

The city was HUGE and even after living in it for over ten years, I still got lost. It was that big. Not only that, but a 'Short Cut' went wrong and took longer than it should have been. This city had most of the houses made out of mahogany and marble. You could even put down stained glass because some house had so many windows, you might think it was just a giant window.

Some people are idiots. Unfortunately, today, I am one of those idiots.

I murmured apologies when pushed through the crowd and kept going, never stopping. I'm late AGAIN! He's going to kill me. I sighed accepting my fate. There was no way I could make it on time.

My cape kept getting caught on EVERYTHING! I SWEAR I AM GOING TO KILL SOMEONE. For some dim-witted reason, my uniform had a long cape that almost reached my feet. It also consisted of lightweight metal armor that covered most of my body, a helmet that didn't cover the front of my face, a pin that stated my rank on my left shoulder, and boots. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great either.

The trade center had the worst traffic ever with people trying to get everywhere and pretty much no order. Just chaos. By some miracle, I made it to the main commons. But I was still late and not even a minute of arriving I got called in to see 'The General'. He is on top of everything so of course he wasn't going to let this slip by.

I entered his 'Command Center' as he called it and sat down in the chair across from him waiting for him to say something. He stared me down. "Commander Mortimer, you are late. Again." He said simply, his cold green eyes bore into mine. He had dark brown hair that was quite short. He wore a more advanced uniform of mine. He was quite tan and wore a pin on his left shoulder that told everyone one thing.

He was the general.

"Sorry, it won't happen ag-" He cut me off with a wave of the hand. "Don't make empty promises. We don't have time for that. I am assigning jobs right now for the week or if it takes longer then so be it."

I almost sighed in relief. At least he didn't yell at me... Again... Something told me my punishment would have to do with the job. "You are to go patrol and take assignments from citizens in Glacies Village." I shot up off my seat. "What? PATROL! That is for low level soldiers and you know it! I am not a private anymore!" I protested immediately.

"Stand down Commander! This isn't punishment for getting here late. We are running low on soldier from everything that has been going on! More and more towns, cities, villages, heck you name it, they all are starting to request more and more help! I have been getting reports of all sorts of things happening. People getting killed by sea creatures, more gangs and villainous groups rising up. In fact, just last week we got a report of a fire that originated at a secret base that hasn't been fully checked out yet! We cannot keep our heads down and eyes closed anymore! You will pack up your things and hit the road. NOW!"

I was speechless. Neither of us said anything until I finally said what he need to hear. "Fine." It's not like I have a choice anyways. I left without a second word.

"Vix! Hey wait up!"

I smiled when I heard his voice calling after me when I started to head out and pack. I turned to see the face of the one person who could cheer me up the most. "Hey Alex." He grinned cheekily at me. For someone who was a Captain, a rank higher than mine, he was pretty happy and optimistic.

Alex wore different colors than mine. He wore royal blue uniform instead of the forest green one I did. Most ranks had a color but everything below Commander was either Yellow or Red. Not really sure why. Alex was quite different looking from me as well. He had light blue eyes with ginger hair but had a skin tone that was close to mine.

Of course that wasn't a coincidence. We were siblings.

"So how did you talk with uh, HIM go?" He gestured to the place I had come out of. "From what I could guess, he wasn't happy with you?" I nodded. "Yep. I suppose he can't go easy on me huh? Even if he could he wouldn't and we both know that." I started

to move on but my brother followed.

"Don't take it personally, he does that to everyone. No matter how he treats me now, he was really tough on me when I was your age... And rank. It's not because he likes me more."

"But he does like you more."

"Does not! He just tolerates me now because I have impressed him before. Come on! Don't be like that. We both know that I used to annoy the living crap out of that guy! Just because you two butt heads doesn't mean he doesn't like you"

I gave him a look. "You sure bec-"

"If you say 'Because of when you first joined' then I swear I will crash so hard on you, you will wish you had a better point."

"But-"

"Vixen! Yes he might have made you work harder than the others and yes he was hard on you when you messed up but seriously! For Pete's sake, He only made you work that hard because he doesn't want to lose another member of his family!" Alex screeched at me.

We both froze when he said that. That was a touchy subject. "Oh, uh. Sorry... I was trying to make a point." I reached over and patted his back. "It's okay bro. I know." He swallowed and nodded. Even though he said it, it hit him harder than me. I could tell.

"So uh.. What is your mission this week or so?" He spoke finally. "Oh, uh... Patrol. Glacies Village." He nodded slowly. "Cool. We have been running low on people for patrol..." We said our goodbye's and I left to get what I needed.

Eventually, I was ready. I reported in and after saying goodbye to everyone, started my journey. Normally, there would be others with me, but I had a smaller town and once again, low on resources.

It wasn't too far from here but the whole thing would take about twelve hours. Maybe more. Just when I though everything could go wrong, I looked on ahead and a grin formed on my face. The road ahead was covered in freshly fallen snow that was still coming down. I did like the cold but the snow was amazing.

Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all?

Here we go! Soon, the other two will be introduced and I can't wait to write it! :D
