Vixen's Pov
{Still in the past}"Oh come on! Is this necessary?" The voice groaned and whined, causing me to rub my head. "You are a thief and I am not letting you get away with what you have done. That's my job." I retorted turning back to her.
The angry and annoyed Ember sat down on the long chair that could sit four people. The sounds of metal dragging across the ground came with it as she did. The newly caught criminal was now pouting and facing the door where quite a while ago, the medics had left to treat their recent patient.
Though she still wore all black, her mask was fully off and now her whole head could be seen. It was all fairly tan with dark freckles around it. Mostly around the nose. Her hair was short but shaggy and was a deep black.
The chain around her ankle was adjusted by its wearer. After a while, I joined her on the same bench but still made myself sit on the other side. I still held a bit of a grudge which I know isn't good but screw it, I am mad at her.
One thing, however, was very weird to me. Why did she help her?

"HEY! WAIT!" The voice had screamed at me while I was trudging through the endless piles of snow. Squinting my eye, I viewed on ahead. The very person I was going after was now coming back to me.
She wasn't alone.
In her arms, she cradled the body of someone I didn't recognize. Very long hair was defying its holder, drifting freely in the wind. It almost seemed like it was going to blow off and ride the wind into the night sky if it weren't attached to someone.
Bruises and cuts all over the female's body concerned me more than anything. "Hey uh... I need help here." The thief stumbled across the words as if she were trying to process that she was actually saying them.
I helped her carry the person and we made our way back to the frozen town.
The girl being carried had a pale face and long hair that resembled the color of honey. She wore tattered clothes consisting of blue, green and black. Cuts of varying sizes and levels of how bad it looked were pretty much everywhere. Bruises as well though, the head seemed to be the spot where it was the most and where the worse ones were.Lucky for her, though I didn't know the location of a hospital off the top of my head, Ember did and lead the way. The medics were all very intrigued by what had just entered the doors and immediately took her off our hands. Literally.
The doctors of course questioned us and Ember told them everything. We didn't talk before when we found each other but now, I finally found out what happened through eavesdropping.
We waited for a while and during that time, I took it upon myself to take out a chain I carried and attach one end to a post in the room. The other end met itself with the ankle of one very annoyed burgler in black.
*********
The one thing I didn't get was why did she help the person she found lying in the snow and allow herself to get caught? It would have been really easy just to leave her to die and get away. Finally, after a long pause, I spoke.
"Why did you help her?"
"Hmm?" She didn't hear me.
"Why did you help her?" I asked again.
"She was injured and unconscious. What else would I do?"
"But-"
"I'm not heartless."I stopped myself. Of course they aren't heartless. Why did I doubt that for a second? I sighed and laid back. Though the silence was defending, neither of us dared to talk.
I almost hugged the doctor for coming in and breaking the silence. "Okay. We do have updates on the-" She broke off when her eyes came across Ember's chain. "You know what? I won't judge. I've seen weirder situations before."
