Zutara: When Chemicals React (Avatar the last air bender fan fiction)

Azula -Part 12

I have been in this filthy prison, the boiling rock, for almost a year and a half now. This was no place for royalty of the Fire Nation. I didn't care what anyone else said or thought as far as I was concerned I was still Fire Nation royalty and the rightful heir to the throne. Unlike my dear brother. Poor Zu Zu, I wonder what he'll do when his dear sister comes for a visit. I had a plan, a plan that had been in effect for about six months now. There was a guard named Hanyu who was quite infatuated with me. Who am I kidding? He was head over heels in love with me! And I would use his love for me to get out of this dump and take back the Fire Nation. He felt that I wasn't as horrible as the rumors let out to be. He thought that I was a sweet and king beauty. He was definitely confusing some of that with Tai Lee.

It was now around the time of the day for all the prisoners in my sector to go eat lunch in the prison lunch room. But Mr. Hanyu always managed to give me the best meals on the prison balcony. As the bell rang and the prison doors were opened for all the prisoners to make their way to the lunch room, as they went there, Hanyu met me outside of  my cell with a plesent smile on his face. I walked out of the cell with a smile on my face and stopped next to him.

"Why Hello Hanyu," I said in my normal tone of voice.

"Hello, Azula, ready for lunch?"

"That I am, Let's go." He nodded and began to lead the way to the balcony. When we walked, we walked on in silence as any guard would escorting a prisoner. I noticed one of the other prisoners, Shizu, she had stopped in her tracks as we walked passed. She had a look of wonder and curiosity on her face. There was no doubt, as nosey as she was, she would try to pry for information. When we reached the balcony where no one else was around there was already table and meals set for two. He had then suddenly, as if out of longing for me, he took me by the shoulders and kissed me. He pulled away smiling at me.

"Eager much?" I smiled and laughed at his foolishness.

"My dear Azula, how I have longed for your lips..."

"I can tell." He walked me over to the table and pulled out a chair for me to sit. "Thank you," I said as I pushed my long black hair back behind my ear. He sat across from me and we began to eat.

"So how are you Azula?" he asked. I had stopped eating and put my fork down and held my head down as my hair moved back over my eyes. In order for him to help, I had to put on a sad act, I had depict the ultimate damsel in distress to hit a soft spot. I placed a sad expression on my face and forced tears to roll down my cheeks. "Huh? Azula what is it?" he said reachin over and placed his hand over mine.

"I just..." I talked through mty fake believable tear. "I just don't know how much longer I can take this...Hanyu....I don't know how much longer I can live this way." I coverd my eyes with my hands. 

"Oh my dear Azula..."

I took hold of his hand and held it. "Can't we leave here? Just you and me, and we'll start a life together."

"What?"

"Please, there isn't more that i would want than to get out of this prison and live my life with you."

"I don't know... to break out..i s asking for alot."

I quickly made movements towards him and rested my head in his lap while still holding his hand as tears ran down my cheek. "Oh please Hanyu, it would mean so much to me.

He softly rubbed my hair as I could hear him smiling. "Of course my dear, I will do anything for you. How about we do it tonight?"

I lifted my head and smiled. "You mean it?!"

"Yes,  we will leave tonight and once we get you out of here, we will both leave out of here together and never look back." He smiled and then pulled me into a hug.. "I look forward to our life together."

"So do I," I said with emotion and smiled my normal cunning smile.

Later on that night when things had settled down and mostly everyone was asleep. Hanyu then came by my cell to open. He walked over to me and took my hand. i noticed that he was wearing more casual clothing than his guard uniform. The clothes he were wearing were actually quite wealthy. Well, I never would have thought a common guard could come from old money.

"Azula?" he spoke. "Are you ready?"

"As ready as I'll ever be." He led me out of the cell as we walked towards the doorway of the stone  courtyard. "What are we doing here?"

"There is a way through here that no one really knows of except for guards." He walked up towards the side wall and began to pull open a stone door. Just before we walked through sirens and lights started to go off.

"We have to hurry!" I said but before i could move Hanyu grabbed my arm stalling my movement. "What do you think you're doing?!"

"You think I wouldn't realize it. The manipulating Azula using me. How gullable do you think I am?"

I immediately put on the innocent act. "Hanyu! What do you mean?! How could you say that? I love-"

"Drop the act princess." My face went to a scowl as my eyebrows pulled together. 

"Let me go now or I will kill you here now!" Guards soon appeared above the balcony looking foe signs of anyone.

"Wanna get caught or not?"

"What do you want?"

"I know what you plan on doing once you leave here, its pretty obvious. One condition. We get out of here together and then in the end we will rule the Fire Nation together."

"Are you insane?! What makes you think I would rule with you?! I am the only one fit! You arent even of royal blood!"

"Time is ticking Azula....without me you wont get out of here."

I thought it over for a moment. "Fine." He let go of my arm and let me go through as he followed and closed the door behind him. As soon as we were out I thought of turning on him and making  a break for it but maybe I could use him after all and then leave him to drown in the dust in the end.

"So what's the first move?" Hanyu asked.

"Well first things first I need to track down a couple of old recruits. They will join me whether they like it or not. I'll make them an offer they can't refuse. But I need to get out of these clothes."

I then started moving, the way out went underground and then out onto a grassland somwhere, I walked across the grassland and headed into the forest as Hanyu followed. I would soon track down Mai and Tai Lee and then go to the Fire Nation kingdom and take my place. i had heard that poor Mai and Zuko split for several reasons. I'm sure she wouldn't mind helping since they were no longer an item. There was no way she would still be sulking over him now. He wasn't worth it. And Tai Lee I heard had joined the Kyoshi warriors. She always had such a simple mind with such a simple way of living. She was always so focused on happiness and fun she never thought of bettering herself. I would make her join me whether she liked it or not.

I will without a doubt take my rightful place as Fire Lord, and rule the four nations as my father planned. Perhaps I should pay him a visit in the Fire Nation prison. I will be the supreme leader, the ultimate ruler. And  in order to do that I will take the thrown from my dear brother, Zuko. And I will take it by challenging him  to an Agni Kai.
