We had finally reached Omashu, we planned on visiting King Bumi still as planned. But also to find any leads on the whereabouts of Zuko's mother. Sokka was already for a nap and a buffet. Aang was still pretty quiet since we left the Southern Water Tribe, along with Toph as well. I've never seen her so quiet. She seemed to have a lot on her mind. It was nice to be here in Omashu, the last time I was here was with the Kyoshi Warriors. I miss those girls so much. At least Katara was still showing a bit of personality in such gloom.
Katara and I were shopping for a few things while the boys and Toph went to buy food. With all that has happened I know I don't voice my opinion much, but I don't think it's needed, it seems everyone has already voiced their opinions to the subject of this unrequited love triangle. At least I never thought to. I, however, do feel it was a bit sudden of Katara's flash decision and the way it was done...well wasn't the right approach...perhaps if it happened a bit smoothly...Aang wouldn't be so upset...he would still be hurt, yes. But he probably wouldn't be so angry and be a bit more understanding and spiritual like the Avatar is known to be.
But I also understand Katara's situation, the heart wants what the heart wants. She's always had feelings for Zuko, she just didn't know. A while back when the war was going on around, I had heard that Zuko and Katara went on a trip to find out who killed her mother. I think that was when maybe their friendship could have started growing then. Some of these small details remind me of Sokka.
He had feelings for Princess Yue, he loved her. But her fate was out of her hands. She became the moon. I'm sure he still thinks of her often, because its possible if she was still here, he would be with her. We probably would have never met. But I know she's always with him; whenever he looks at the moon, he thinks of her.
"Hey Suki...?" Katara called me to grab my attention.
"What is it Katara?" I looked over at her. She seemed to have a lot on her mind.
"What do you think of all of this?"
My eyes went wide. "About what Katara?"
"You know? Everything that's happened. Me and Zuko....Aang."
"Oh! Well..."
"I'd really like to know what you think Suki, honestly."
"Well Katara..." I took a deep breath. "I understand that you have feelings for Zuko and you being with him isn't a bad thing. I can tell you two are very happy, and I'm happy for you. And I'm glad you followed your heart. But...I think the way everything happened...the way you suddenly went to Zuko without a thought...I think that's why Aang is so angry and upset. If maybe you went about it differently and talked about it, he would of course still be hurt, but maybe he would be a bit more understanding about it all." I had hoped that I didn't sound too harsh telling her all of this. Katara's such a sweet girl, and I just hoped I didn't hurt her feelings. I wanted to get my point across without seeming cruel.
"I see..." she said with a small smile. "You make a good point. If I had talked to Aang first he probably would have been a lot better about all of this. Now he won't even talk to me at all. He won't even look at me." She sighed.
"But its not all your fault. Zuko played a major part too."
"Hmm? What do you mean."
"Well not saying Zuko meant to, but Zuko was quite selfish. Regardless of the fact you were with Aang he still made his feelings known, or tried to. It seems he just couldn't go another day without telling you his feelings. He seemed hesitant at first and then just went for it. I saw you two that night...outside. If a guy told me he'd rather die than the next than live the next hundred years without knowing me I'd probably go to him in a heartbeat to. But unlike other guys I know Zuko meant that."
