I was lying back on the bed in the master bedroom with my new baby girl, dressed in a fine silk robe. It's amazing how ten years have passed since the whole epidemic with Azula trying to take over the fire nation throne. The memory is so far gone, and the world is so full of peace, I barely remember it. I'm sure none of us barely do, we're all so busy now and have our hands full. Zuko came in the room and smiled at me. As he came closer I heard a the small sound of pattering feet behind him. Even though I couldn't see, I knew who it was.
"How are you feeling?" Zuko asked. "Everything well?"
"Everything is," I smiled. "Come meet our daughter."
He came closer and leaned over beside the bed next to me and smiled. "She has your eyes." She did indeed. She had her father's fair complexion, my hair and his smile. She was beautiful
"Mommy! Mommy!" The source of the pitter patter finally wanted to make himself known as he jumped up and down. "Is that my baby sister? Is she finally out of your tummy?!"
"She is Iroh, why don't you come say hi?"
Iroh, our son was three now and was a bucket of joy, fun, and enthusiastic. He got the majority of his looks from Zuko with my complexion. He climbed up on top of the bed as I turned his new baby sister toward him. He looked at her and smiled widely where you could see a front baby tooth that just fell out. She opened her eyes a bit more and smiled and reached towards her big brother.
"What's her name mommy?" he asked.
"Kya." I had always planned to name my daughter after my mother. Zuko knew that and understood seeing as how he wanted to name our son after the man he admired most and who was like a father to him, his uncle Iroh.
"Beautiful," Zuko smiled.
"Hey there, Kya!" Iroh said. "I'm your big brother, Iroh!" He then leaned in closer to her face and then she quickly grabbed and tugged on his nose. "Ah!" he yelled from the pain and fell backward on to the floor. Zuko picked him up and held him.
"Oh yes," Zuko started. "I meant to tell you we have visitors." Then the door opened and one by one the couples walked in happily and in each other's arms. Sokka and Sukki, Mai and her fiancé Haku, and Toph and Aang. Even Uncle Iroh, and Ursa, Zuki's mother. Happy to see their nephew and son with another child. They had all come to welcome baby Kya to the world.
Sokka and Sukki had brought along their baby boy Hakoda, named after our father. And Toph was currently pregnant with her and Aang's first child. If it was a boy they'd named him Tenzin and if a girl, Lin. Sokka and Sukki currently lived in the Earth Kingdom with Aang and Toph. They were helping Aang to build structure to represent their goal of peace and to keep it, building a city on an island called, Republic City. And with Mai and Haku being just married they had a bit of time to wait, but children were definitely in their future. They lived in Ba Sing Se and also aided with the structure of Republic City.
Zuko and I were helping of course too. We would send in more builders, workers, or reinforcements in they needed it. And any other form of help we could offer. It was funny how ten years had given us so much age and wisdom. We all probably felt like we'd be kids forever and have loads of fun. Everyone was taller, especially the guys. Zuko, Aang and Sokka both had facial hair, and the hair on Zuko's head had grown longer to the length that his father had. And all their voices were deeper. And for us girls, our hair had grown in length.
