Chap 26

***Selenas POV***

I hid behind a tree that was close to them and just listened to them talking.

"You know I want you dead Chrissy right?" he asked smiling at her.

Chrissy laughed, "Yea I kinda figured that out the last time." she spat out at him.

I smiled and at the same time Klaus' smile disappeared. He lunged forward, Chrissy stood there shocked, and I quickly put a forcefeild between them before Klaus got to her.

They both looked around confused and Klaus looked so angry.

I stepped out from behind the tree showing myself. They both looked at me. Chrissys corners of her lips were twitching trying not to smile, and Klaus was completely angry. I looked at Klaus annoyed.

"If you even touch her the deal is off Klaus!!!" I screamed at him.

He came over to me and put his hands around my neck, and it wasnt gently...

I tried to get him off but it wasnt working.

"You may have came to the rescue now... but one day you wont." he whispered, and then he was gone.

I instantly bent over and started choking to death. I dont know what it was but it was like somthing hit me.  I felt Chrissys hand on my back.

"Selena are you ok?!?!" she asked worried.

I tried to regain my breath but all I could force out was, "Fine.."

I stood up staight and breathed in and out. Then Damon and Stefan appeared in front of us.

Damon looked at Chrissy with her hand on my back then at me, "What happen? Are you guys alright?"

"Fine," i said more clearer than before.

Chrissy laughed, "Yea ya know, nothing new...same old Klaus just trying to kill everyone in sight."

Stefan made a face, "What?"

"Klaus came here trying to kill me and then she showed up and saved me but Klaus practically choked her to death and then left."

Damon came over to me. I saw Chrissy glare at him but Damon paid no attention to her. He just looked at me.

Stefan coughed awkwardly and said, "Umm c'mon lets get back to the house."

He started to lead the way back and Chrissy gave Damon one last look and then just followed Stefan. Me and Damon stood there for a second and then once they were both out of earshot I laughed.

Damons eyebrows came together, "What?"

I smiled at him, "My friend doesnt like you very much."

He grinned and put his arm around my waist pulling me closer to him, "Dont worry, I'll change her mind."

We started walking back slowly.

"Are you sure ok?" he asked concerned.

"I am perfectly fine." I said giving him a smile.

He sighed, "You scared the hell outta me when we realised you werent in the house."

I looked up at him and his icy blue eyes were looking at me. "Damon..." I started, then looked away from him and continued, "You need to stop worrying about me. I can...take care of myself."

He chuckled and I looked up at his smiling face. He was looking ahead, "No matter what you say Selena I'm not going to let you get killed." he said still smiling.

I rolled my eyes and elbowed him in the ribs. He laughed and i realized we were at Elenas house. He opened the door and we walked into the living room to see Katherine with her arms crossed, Stefan and Elena on the couch, Chrissy by the front door and last...Jeremy on the loveseat.

I looked at Jeremy and our eyes locked for a second and I quickly pulled away. I felt so awkward right now...

"Um Selena we need to go and talk," Chrissy said looking at me. Then she came over to me grabbing my arm, "In private!" she whispered.

Damon was about to speak but Chrissy quickly interrupted, "She'll be fine with me lover boy."

We walked out and to my house. Once we were inside Chrissy sat at my island as I got a chocolate chip cookie to munch on.

"You're not going to like to hear this," Chrissy said quietly.

I looked at her confused, "What?"

She sighed, "I think you should break up with Damon."

My eyes widened at her, "What? Why?!"

"Because hes a vampire, hes dangerous, hes careless, and you could never be with him! Plus vampires and witches are enemies!"

Thats it. I slammed my cookie down and stared at her angry, "Ok," I tried to say calmly, "First of all I know hes a vampire and yea they are dangerous but not all of them!" she rolled her eyes but i continued, "Second, he cares about me, and third...well...threre are ways to be with him and not all witches and vampires have to hate eachother!"

I crossed my arms and just looked at her.

She shook her head, "But-"

I cut her off, "and he would never hurt-"

"He would never hurt you physically!" She said pointing her finger, "but mentally...yeaa he could completely destroy you mentally."

I just looked at her not believing what I was hearing. But maybe she was right... I could never be with Damon unless I changed... And who even knows if he wants to be with me forever... Maybe i'm just a temporary girlfriend to him...

RING RING RING!

I snapped out of my thoughts and went to get the phone. It was Chrissys dad.

"Hello?"

"Hi Selena is Chrissy there?"

"Yea shes here, you wanna talk to her?"

"No thats ok, just tell her to come home now please?"

"Sure."

I hung up the phone and looked at Chrissy, "Your dad wants you home."

She got up and went out the door, without saying a word. I sighed and turned around to see Damon right infront of me.

I gasped and he smiled, "Damon you gotta stop doing that! You're gonna give me a heart attack one of these days!"

He just laughed and I looked at him confused, "Did you hear all that?" i asked quietly and his smile disappeared.

He sighed and came closer to me placing his hand on my cheek giving me chills, "Yea, yea I did." he said quietly as he rubbed my cheek with his thumb.

I looked into his eyes and asked, "Does this change anything between us?"

He paused searching my eyes and then finally said,  "I dont know...does it?"

I just looked at him not knowing what to say. Half the stuff Chrissy said was true. But for some reason I didnt care. I felt like I would do anything for him, even change for him...

"I dont want it to..." I finally answered and he smiled slightly.

"Then I guess everythings fine."

I smiled and rapped my arms around his waist and he did the same.

"Somtimes I feel like half the stuff she just said is true though." he whispered in my ear.

I pulled away to look at him, "What?"

He sighed, "I would never hurt you emotionalltly unless it was best for you, and yes I am dangerous to you, do you know how hard it is for me to be this close to you and not think about killing you?"

I just looked at him. I never thought of that. It must be really hard.

"Well," he continued, "I always have it in the back of my head that one day I'm going to just snap and hurt you, and I'll never forgive myself for it..." his eyebrows came together and he looked at me sadly. "And we could never be together." he whispered the last part.

I felt like my heart was just ripped out. I just stared at him, "You wont hurt me...I know you wont." I said as I felt my arms automatically tighten around him.

"I'm not as strong as you think."

"W-what are you trying to say?"

He sighed taking his arms off me, "Maybe we should break up...stop seeing eachother."

I was shocked. I felt like I couldnt breathe. I felt tears in my eyes as I looked into his sad blue ones, "N-no." I choked out, "Damon..."

He pulled me in for a hug and I closed my eyes as he kissed my forhead. When I opened them the window was open...and he was gone...
