I wake to the sound of my alarm. My week off was spent with Alexa, watching Netflix and ordering pizza when the last one ran out. Joe joined us for a while but he had some YouTube errands to run so it was mostly Alexa and I.
I guess you could say that Joe and I were falling apart slightly. We never saw each other for more than a few hours and there was always someone else there. Thoughts have been racing back and forth through my head.
Maybe you and Joe weren't ready.
Maybe he never did love you.
I try not to think about it but now - as Joe and I haven't talked for three days - the thoughts haven't left my head once.
I sigh and get out of bed.
I was given an order to fulfil at work: wear anything that's unusual.
So I ignored them.
I grab my white 'London' jumper and black ripped jeans. I look outside.
I grab my timberlands, green duffel coat, beanie and scarf. Grabbing my Adidas bag again. I shove all my necessities for the day and get my phone off my bedside table.
My stomach growls.
I check the time; I really don't have enough time to get something eat.
I sigh again and leave the house, locking the door behind me when I bump into Joe. But that's not the problem. He's with another girl. They're holding hands.
Joe coughs and immediately let's go of the blonde tarts hand. I gape at Joe.
'Are you fucking kidding me?' I ask angrily.
'No! Emma, this is not what it looks like.' Joe says, his voice quivering.
I glare at him.
'Oh it's exactly what it looks like. I can't believe you Joe! After everything I told you! Do you know how much courage it took me to tell you those things? And you know how I feel about relationships. But no, you had to go fuck it up didn't you?' I shout, my voice rising by the second.
'Emma listen-' Joe starts but I cut him off: my eyes watering.
'Save it Joe. I do not give shit about you if this is the way that you treat someone like me.' I say, my voice cracks and tears roll down my cheek. I wipe them off angrily and shove past Joe and the common blonde tart he's with.
My chest heaving and tears streaming down my face, I walk down into the street, people looking at me. But I really do not care.
As I turn the corner, a ringing starts rushing through my ears.
Oh god. Not now. Any time but now.
I shake my head. As if that will help.
The ringing does not stop and my throat tightens.
I can see the offices from here.
I walk quicker and try to block it out.
But I can't.
My vision goes blurry and I feel like I can't breath. I need to scream but I can't; I can't do anything. I collapse to the ground in the street and strangers immediately crowd around me.
'Ma'am? Are you alright?' A lady asks.
I can't open my mouth, I just curl into to a ball: wishing for the ground to swallow me up.
'I think we need to call a doctor.' Another man says.
A few more words are said but I can't hear. I can't because I've fainted.
Joe's POV
'Save it Joe. I do not give a shit about you if this is the way you treat someone like me.' Emma says, her voice cracking and a tear rolling down her cheek. It takes all my will power not to wipe it off tenderly and kiss her.
She shoves past me and races down the stairs.
'Well.. Now that she's gone, perhaps we can get a little alone time?' The girl called Evie asks, biting her lip.
I know what she's doing. Trying to seduce me. But only Emma does that. I hate Evie, I hate her. Why did I go through with this? Why did I think that Emma wouldn't find out?
'I think you should go.' I say, livid.
'Ugh, whatever.' She snaps, flipping her fake extensions and strutting away.
I'm glad.
I storm back to the flat when I get a call from Alexa. I ignore it. But she calls again.
'What?' I say angrily.
'Joe listen, it's Emma.' Alexa says hurriedly.
'What? What's happened?' My heart racing.
'She.. After she left for work she had a panic attack and collapsed in the street. She's at the hospital now.' Alexa explains.
'I'm on my way.' I say determinedly and hang up.
What happened with me and Emma.. Well, I'm going to put that right.
I need to see her.
I need to know she's ok.
