A lot of people believe in the soul-mate theory: the idea that everyone has this one person they are meant to be with.
I don't like to believe in this theory, not because it is foolish but because it is sad.
Yes, some people do find their soul mates, but a lot of people don't. They get tripped up by some common misconception of love and lose their chance at being with their soul mate. Others just never seem to find that one person that is supposed to brighten their world.
What is the point of having one person you're meant to be with if it's more than likely that you'll never meet them? You're two people out of seven billion. The odds aren't in the couple's favor.
The worst thing is when someone does find their soul mate but they part. Be it because of a foolish fight, or something less of their own will like a death. Everyone dies at some point and it is likely that one person will die before the other.
The soul mate theory would bring more sadness than it would joy, which is why I try my hardest not to believe in it. Because everyone will only be hurt in the end.
