{A Week Later}
Landon's P.O.V
Our bodies barely touch at night, our feelings hardly reach each other, and our stares hardly hold love.
It's torture, but I know I can't make up to her with a pathetic apology. Time is the answer; she needs time to think.
'You idiot!' My wolf had growled at me after I told Lilac what was on my mind, 'she's our mate! You don't talk to her like that!' He reprimanded.
Now, he doesn't bother talking to me because he's still pissed with me, and apparently, Lilac's wolf doesn't bother talking to him.
Our distance makes me sick, and apparently, it makes Lilac physically sick because I hear her at night, bent over the toilet throwing up her dinner.
The first night she had woke me up to hold her hair, but after that, she didn't touch me and I knew she didn't want me to help, so I feigned sleep.
In the morning, she would act like nothing happened, but I would see her being finicky at dinner, declining everything except a small appetizer.
Occasionally, after practicing with Ava and Victoria, I hear her complaining about how much her body hurts, and how warm she's been lately.
'Lunar fever,' My wolf mutters suddenly.
My heart twists in my chest, bringing dread and horror with it. 'She can't have lunar fever... She hasn't lost her mind or even began to show signs of losing control of her wolf,' I shriek at him.
He ponders for a minute. 'Doesn't have to. Those are all signs of lunar fever,' He replies bluntly.
No. She's too young.
"Landon, please, pay attention," Thanatos bellows.
Jolting forward, I look down towards the laptop on my lap that shows the different layouts for a pack house and pack neighborhoods.
I won't need that many houses considering most of the pack will live in the packhouse, and our pack members probably won't exceed over two-hundred.
Though they had called my name, my thoughts still drifted to the possibility that my fiancée might have lunar fever. That fact alone makes me want to be physically sick.
Have hope, Landon, I think sullenly, she would be showing more signs if she had lunar fever. It's probably just our mate bond reacting to the cold stares and distance.
Yes, that's it.
With that thought in mind, I'm able to focus on Erik and Thanatos more, but the worry still lingers in the back of my mind.
••
When we're finally done, I wander to the kitchen to see Lilac feeding our children in the evening light, her beautiful, brown hair illuminated to look like wisps of spun gold.
She's so beautiful, I think.
Lilac turns around but frowns when she sees me, making my heart plummet into an abyss. "Landon," She tries to say with an upbeat tone.
She fails.
Forcing a smile, I walk over to the babies and kiss them on the cheeks. "How are you guys?"
