Lilac's P.O.V
I feel it in my spine, a fire-like feeling inching along slowly. It circulates through my body before consuming my limbs.
Something's going to happen, and sadly, both my body and my brain wouldn't allow me to fall asleep until I tell somebody about this.
Glancing at Landon, I frown when I see he's fast asleep, his arms caging me to his lean figure. I don't need to worry him with my crazy suspicions.
Ever since I returned home from the hospital after Lydia kidnaped me, I've had this weird sense of intuition. Maybe because I was, and I still am, paranoid over somebody locking me to a metal table and torturing me once again.
Landon reassures me every day that nobody will ever disable our family like that again. He says he'll die before anybody hurts me again, and I believe him.
My eyes roam Landon and I's dark bedroom before falling upon the clock.
2:36 A.M.
This wasn't the first time that this feeling has kept me up, no, it happened a numerous amount of times once Lucy was born.
Going on vacation helped with my anxiety, but the fear was still there, always lurking around the corner whenever I was finally cheery or joyful.
Yet, sex with Landon was one of the things that actually benefited me. Since he is so protective over me, it leads to more passionate and sentimental sex.
Though he is my father, I view him more as the father of my children, and I'm just going to assume that he views me the same way.
..
"Your birthday is in four more days," Landon says as he leans on the counter drinking his coffee.
I smile, completely engrossed with trying to get Lucy to drink milk from her bottle.
"And we have three babies to celebrate it with," I say.
I release a frustrated groan, finally giving up on feeding her milk that isn't mine.
Landon moves to pick up Lucy, distracting her momentarily while I prepare myself to breastfeed her.
"Why do you have to be so difficult, Lucy?" Landon coos to her as he throws her small body into the air.
I unbutton my flannel before reaching for Lucy's body.
"Looks like I'm just going to have to breastfeed her."
Landon hands me Lucy, his browns eyes sparkling with a playful glow.
"Come on, we should do some something fun," Landon suggests.
I scoff, my hand gently leading Lucy's head to my breast. "Like what? A club?" I laugh.
Landon rolls his eyes, clearly upset with how unenthused I am. "No, something like stargazing or a romantic dinner... without the kids," He retorts.
He has taken me on many dates over the last few months and every single one was better than the last.
To be honest, it would be great
"Why do we have to celebrate my birthday? Why don't we celebrate your birthday for a change?"
Landon stares at me blankly, making me raise an eyebrow.
"What? Are too old to celebrate your birthday with your twenty-two-year-old mate?" I tease.
He shakes his head. "My birthday doesn't matter."
I look down at Lucy's blemish-free face, ignoring Landon's comment.
How can I celebrate a birthday with two toddlers and a baby? My birthday will definitely be spent at home with my children, as boring as it might sound.
It's not like Landon and I's relationship is like Eden and Mason's. They have only been a couple for about nine months while Landon and I have been a couple for about two years.
They still have a new car scent, and not to say Landon and I don't have a new car scent, it's just... we're a little more accustomed to each other because we know one another so well.
Sure, every once and a while, something happens in Landon and I's relationship that makes me fall in love with him all over again.
Personally, I just think Landon and I's relationship needs a jumpstart to rekindle the blazing spark in our relationship.
It's just died slowly ever since Lucy was born.
"Landon, do you think we've lost our... flame?" I ask softly while perching Lucy on my arm to burp her.
Eyes wide, Landon hesitates before shaking his head.
I look him right in the eyes. "Don't lie."
"Yes, but it has nothing to do with you," Landon looks at Lucy. "It's the kids that have us drifting apart from each other."
I give him a small smile. "I'm guessing you have an idea to rekindle that flame on my birthday?" I assume.
Landon kneels in front of me and cups my face, careful of Lucy's small body.
His lips kiss up from my neck until they reach my lips.
I release a small moan as his tongue slithers into my mouth, his hands massaging small circles on my inner thighs.
Lucy is suddenly taken from my arms, making me self-conscious about my unbuttoned flannel.
Landon's smooth hands run over my stomach, suppressing my worries of my flaws.
I run my hands on my mate's muscled arms, which are now covered in ink from new tattoos, and pull him closer to me.
"You're so perfect," Landon breaths as he rests his forehead against mine.
Giving a breathless smile, I move my hands to button up my flannel but I'm stopped by Landon's hand.
He shakes his head. "Don't you dare cover yourself up from me, Lilac. Your body is nothing to be ashamed about, you're perfect in every way and I wouldn't change a thing about you or our relationship," He continues.
A blush dominates my pale skin. "You're so sweet. It feels good to know that you care about the state of our relationship," I smile.
Landon simply smiles back, his hand caressing my cheek while love burns brightly in his brown eyes.
"You're my queen, without you, I, and I mean this literally, wouldn't be able to function correctly and run this empire we call a family."
