Lilac's P.O.V

"What does the letter say?" Landon questions. I look down at the fancy calligraphy with a frown.

Katrina is my grandmother, and the last time I saw her was on my first birthday.

There're thousands of questions in my head right now that I want to ask her, like why Landon has alpha blood.

"'Dear, Landon: I've been meaning to get in touch with you lately, but life has thrown many obstacles my way. I'm sorry I've been absent from your life, even Lilac's life, but I suppose she's grown now and has a family of her own.

As you know, I have numerous secrets that I've never shared with you, so I decided to track you down and give you a location to meet me at.

There's a quaint little diner about two miles out of town called Sherri's Diner. Meet me there at 12:30 p.m., Landon.

With much love, Katrina West.'" I read.

Landon stays silent, thinking over his words before he speaks. "She's behind on our family's latest news. Lydia is dead, you're my mate and fiancée, and we have three kids," He sighs.

I scan over the letter once again. "Should we meet her at the diner?"

"No... I don't know. If we don't go, I'll be curious, if we do go, I'll be cautious."

Reassuringly, I rest my hand on his and squeeze lightly. He flashes me a worried smile.

Seeing my mate frustrated has the same effect on me. I really think meeting with Katrina/Landon's mom/my grandmother will help.

Not only will we debunk the reason Landon has alpha blood, but we'll probably find out more about Mason.

In my opinion, I think we should go to meet her.

"I know what you're thinking, and I think that's a good decision, but what if this is a set-up or something?" Landon asks.

A set-up? I never thought of that. Maybe somebody is using the identity of Katrina to lure us into a trap, or maybe it really is her.

I begin to twiddle my thumbs unconsciously, nervous but excited. "Well, if it's a set-up, we should go on ahead and take care of the problem."

Landon furrows his eyebrows. "Where did this sudden bravery come from?"

Overall, I don't know, maybe it's my wolf urging me to protect my family. We'll just have to see what happens.

I flip through the many photos in my hand, noticing they're all of the West family. Pictures of Landon and very few of what I think might be Mason.

A man that looks like an older, colder version of Mason is also in few of the photos.

Another man that I immediately distinguish as my grandfather appears in more of the photos, though.

What is this?

As if Ophelia is listening to my questions and thoughts, a photograph of Landon, Lydia and me with a note on the back drops out of the mess of photos.

Landon glances at me and the photos uncertainty.

"'There's too many secrets in this family for me to bury. Maybe you could help, Landon,'" I read slowly.

Katrina does have a lot of secrets, too many secrets. She discarded a son, and nobody knows where either one of her children's fathers are.

I continue to flip through the photos, stopping on one of a pregnant Katrina, whether it's Landon or Mason I can't decide, but judging from the proud hand on her belly, I'm guessing it's Landon.
