A week after that Juliana was absent again. She was gone for two days and I got so worried. I thought that maybe it was about her heart problem again so I dialled her number for the millionth time in two days. It has been like this for the past two days, I text her, I call her but I got no response. Not even a blank message.

On the fifth ring she finally answered.

'Hey Juls, what's up? Are you okay? Where on earth are you?' I quickly asked almost stammering with my words.

'Hello, this is Juliana's mother. May I know who this is?' A voice of an elder woman asked from the other line.

'Good afternoon ma'am. It's her-- It's her friend, Lyss.' I said politely. It hurt me to say that Im just her friend.

Are we just friends? We never talk about it, but what are we now? Weve been flirting around, acting like a couple and such but what we are isnt clear to me.

'Oh, you're Lyss. She's uhh- she's in the hospital right now.' As I heard this I felt my heartbeat getting faster and I got so scared. There was also something about the way she said that I'm Lyss. She knows me. But how?

The tone of her mother's voice also told me that it's even worse than I thought. Is her condition really that worse? I hope not.

'Oh can I visit her ma'am?' I asked. I really wanted to see her that bad. I didnt care if it was seven in the evening.

'It's late night. You can come tomorrow.' She said but I debated with her in a polite way of course. Later on she agreed so I went to tell my mom.

'What?! It's seven thirty! Are you crazy? Im sure that can wait until the weekend. Juliana will be fine Im sure. It's the hospital, there are doctors and nurses.' She said as she wiped her hands on her pink apron. She was cooking dinner.

'Weekend?! She's on the hospital, mom. She was the only person who stayed by my side when I wanted to die, mom.' Sarcasm overload. I may have forgotten that she's my mom by the way I answered because another minute she was yelling at me to go upstairs to my room.

I stomped my way to my room and banged my door shut. I really cant believe I wont be able to see her.

Hell no, Im still going.

I didnt eat dinner anymore. I just locked myself up. I just waited until the lights downstairs were already off.

I wore a cap and a hoodie and as soon as my mom and brothers were asleep I snuck out of the house to get to the hospital.

An hour later, due to traffic and delays, I got to the hospital. Not long enough when I found her room. Her mother was sitting outside.

She was sophisticated and beautiful too like her daughter. Now I know where Juliana got her brown eyes and straight black hair.

'Good evening ma'am.' I greated. She held my hand to usher me inside. It was perhaps the most expensive room in the hospital.

'Wont your mother get angry at you? It's so late. And it's a school night.' She was kind, I could feel it. I just couldnt imagine that she's always arguing with her husband, Juliana's father.

'She already is, ma'am. But-- but dont worry about it. Im gonna fix  it when I get home.' I chuckled sadly. It was the first time I ever really got into an argument with my mom. And this is also the first time I snuck out of the house, at late night.

'You should. Mothers are only thinking of what's best for you.' She smiled and I did too.

'Ohh. What happened to her?' I asked sadly as I approached her bed. She was asleep and was in dextrose again. I felt little pinches in my heart.
