I look up from my paperwork to the sound of giggling coming from behind the curtains. A small grin crosses my face as I spot the two sets of small feet underneath one panel while a bigger set of feet are underneath the second one. I shake my head and look down again as if I didn't see them. The giggling starts up again and I can see the curtains moving now. Keeping my head down, I look up to find the curtains empty. Kaida is leaning against the wall watching as the smaller sets of feet rush across the floor 'quietly' to hide behind the chairs in front of my desk. I hold back a chuckle as their heads peek up from behind the chairs. Their heads disappear again and I hear them scurry around the sides of my desk, giggling the whole way. I act surprised as they jump out from the sides and yell 'Boo!' They cheer and I catch them as they jump up onto my lap.
"Did we scare you Papa?"
"Absolutely. I had no idea you two were in here. I thought you were with Mama?"
"Mama came too! It was her idea."
I look up to Kaida who shrugs.
"They wanted to see you and wanted to play ninja."
I ruffle their hair, causing both of them to scowl. Shortly after the honeymoon we found out we were expecting, much to Ino's joy. We just didn't know we'd have fraternal twins. Kiyoshi and Katsumi are four now and Kiyoshi looks just like I did when I was a child with the same red hair and light green eyes. Katsumi takes after her mother on most aspects, including her light brown hair, but her eyes change colors apparently. They started out white like Kaida's did which scared us thinking she was blind, but they changed to brown, then to blue the next day. We've gotten used to it now though, they change daily from one color to the next making up the colors flecked in Kaida's eyes.
Kaida comes over and leans against the desk next to us as the twins bicker back and forth in my lap. I smile up at her as she grins down at me. Her face drops suddenly and I worriedly ask if she's alright. She takes my hand and places it on her swollen stomach and I can feel a muffled kick underneath my hand. Our third child is due any day now and despite my protests Kaida won't stay on bed rest. I've been on edge to say the least. I worry about her. Most of Kaida's abilities came back, slowly but surely, though she doesn't have full control over them like she did in the past. Right now she can only work with earth and spirit. I helped her with her earth control until we found out we were expecting, then told her she couldn't train until after the baby. I can't help her with spirit and I don't know of anyone who can but she says every time she uses it, the jutsu just come to her and she can work with it. She's happy that she can do all of that now and be a regular ninja, but I can tell her happiest moments are with us as a family.
"Hey kids, where's Uncle Kankuro?" I ask.
"He hid in the lobby because he knew that Mama was supposed to stay home.""Oh. Well, I think its lunch time for the three of you. I'll be home early this evening and if you're good, we'll play ninja together, alright?"
They cheer and I kiss their heads before letting them down. Kaida leans down and kisses me before leading the kids to the door.
"Oh, send Kankuro up here on your way out please."
Kaida smirks and nods. A moment later I can hear Kankuro shouting so I send my sand down the stairs to get him, turning the shouting into girly screams.
Ino and Sai are expecting their second child together while Inojin has grown up to have a lack of a filter like Sai but has Ino's motivation. What a strange combination.Last we heard, Sasuke still comes around Konoha to see Sakura and Sarada but he's been on a mission that requires he travel most of the time. He and Kaida keep in contact, mainly to rekindle their sibling bond and discuss Itachi. The notebook she brought back from the compound was apparently a series of letters Itachi wrote over the years after the massacre and left behind in hopes she'd find it. I guess he was too afraid of what she'd think if he'd given it to her.I walked into the room one day to find her crying over it, because Kisame had written in it at one point. It's still strange to me that she had all of these bonds with criminals, the Akatsuki, Zabuza and Haku, Orochimaru, Sasuke, but they're her family of sorts and she didn't turn against the good side during any of it so it didn't harm anything. Shikamaru and Temari have their second child already, another boy named Rasa after our father. Shikadai is just like his father, even with the frequent use of the word 'troublesome'. Naruto is still waiting to become Hokage, but I know its coming. Everything seems to be going well for all of us. Life is great. I never thought that I would end up here but I wouldn't want it any other way...
