I saw a black human-like figure floating in the air. Kind of like a 3-D shadow. It slowly descended. Black encircled around it, forming a cloak. The black disappeared to reveal a man. He had black hair that looked as if it were gelled. He looked in his early twenties. He opened his eyes to reveal glowing black. He blinked and the glow disappeared, but he still had black eyes. This guy radiated power. Just being in his presence made you feel afraid. He looked at himself, as if acknowledging his existence. He took a few steps. He walked as if he were not walking, but floating across the floor while moving his legs. Like a cat, he seemed graceful and nimble, but looking at him could tell you he truly had great power. James bowed down.
''Lord Zirkon.'' The man looked at him.
''Ah, James. You have done well. Very well. After fifteen years, here you still stand before me as if it were only... yesterday.''
''A thousand thanks, master.''
''Yet I find myself... disappointed...''
''Sir?...''
''You did not do this sooner. Instead you wasted time. Years. This could have been done years ago.''
''Well, you see, sir, it's extremely difficult... and it took time. There were many things to do.''
It amazed me that someone as powerful and old as James was turned into a fearful servant in the presence of this man.
''Indeed. It did take a long time, but here I am, I guess. Well done, nonetheless.''
''And the boy-''
''The boy?!'' Clearly, James had said too much. ''You did not destroy the boy?!''
''Well...''
''You fool!!! I wanted him dead! And the old man?!''
My grandfather stood, staring.
''You two stay here,'' he whispered. ''It's my turn.''
He walked up to this man, Zirkon.
''Well, I'm right here!'' He said.
''Why is he not dead?!'' Yelled Zirkon. James did not answer.
''Why, hello Alexander.'' Said Zirkon.
''Hello, Michael, or should I say Zirkon, as you prefer that name nowadays.''
''It's been a long time.''
''Indeed. Hopefully you stay down this time.''
It was clear that this Dark Lord, Zirkon, fearless, actually was afraid of my grandfather.
''That's not a nice way to talk,'' he said, trying to keep his calm. ''Especially after everything we've been through, father. Not seeing each other for fifteen years.''
''Enough talk,'' said my grandfather, drawing his sword.
''As you wish,'' said Zirkon. With amazing speed he drew his sword and lunged at my grandfather. He struck so hard that he was just able to block. Sparks flew of both swords. An epic battle ensued of swings, blocks, dodges, and flips. Yes, I said flips. Like Yoda. It weird.
''You did this to me!'' Zirkon said.
''I did? You have no one to blame but yourself.''
''You never cared about me!''
''I loved you. You were my son.''
''I hate you!'' Those words stung my grandfather. How could his son become this? I analyzed the fight. Surely Zirkon could not defeat my grandfather?... He was fighting on the defensive, while Zirkon lashed out in wild blitzes of anger. But I could see my grandfather was weakening, while Zirkon seemed to be unaffected by weariness.
Then the fight took a bad turn. Zirkon unleashed a powerful swing, knocking my grandfather's sword out of his hand. My grandfather swung at him, but Zirkon easily blocked them. He then my grandfather's fist, and gave him a punch of his own. He then kicked him in the chest, and my grandfather went flying back. He skidded across the ground and knocked his head.
''You've become old and weak.'' My grandfather jumped up, but with a burst of magic from Zirkon, he was once again lying on the ground.
''You're not only weak... you're foolish.''
My grandfather rose again and sent a beam of magic at Zirkon. Zirkon did the same. Unlike my grandfather's which was white, Zirkon's was black. Was everything black with that guy? The two clashed in an even greater explosion then when mine and Cole's collided. Both the men managed to keep their footing. Zirkon laughed. To my despair, Zirkon's began pushing its way towards my grandfather. It hit him with such force, he was thrown back towards the edge of the tower.
''I'm enjoying this very, very much,'' said Zirkon. My grandfather did not reply. Zirkon ran up to him, grabbed him by the throat, and tossed him across the floor. He struggled to get up once again, but Zirkon just tossed him back down again.
''I've been waiting for this for 15 years, old man.''
Zirkon grabbed my grandfather by the throat, and punched him, causing him to skid along the ground further.
''I'm loving every minute of it.''
Then, before my grandfather, Elizabeth, or I could do anything, Zirkon grabbed him again, and in another fit of anger, plunged his sword into him. He pulled it out, and my grandfather slumped to the ground, beaten, battered, finished.
''My patience has proved worth it,'' said Zirkon as he sheathed his sword.
''NO!'' I yelled. I ran at Zirkon and swung wildly. How could he do this? Zirkon didn't expect this, but managed to quickly dodge. I tried to hit him with magic, but he easily did the same and I ended up being the one who got hit. Out came Elizabeth, who threw one of her knives at Zirkon. He turned and grabbed it. He threw it at her, and she managed to dodge it. She tried to hit him, but he grabbed her arm, and tossed her next to me.
''So this is your little hero, is it, old man? I've heard lots about you, young man. And who might this be?'' He said, grabbing Elizabeth's arm. She struggled, but couldn't break his grip.
''Let her go,'' I said.
''Oh, how brave. Make me,'' he said playfully.
''I'm gong to kill you,'' I told him.
''Some anger. Some sadness. Good.'' I was already sick and tired of his games. Who did this guy think he was? I ran at him again, but he blocked and kicked me. I attempted to get up, but he blasted me with magic, the way he did my grandfather. I felt as if my energy was being sucked out of me, like a battery running on low. Elizabeth did the same, only to have the same result. We tried to get up, but vines came up from the floor and tied us. I tried to break free, but couldn't.
''What a foolish choice,'' said Zirkon. ''Why choose this boy?'' He seemed to be lost in thought, then snapped back to reality. He turned to us.
''Because you are young, you do not understand, I will spare your life. You seem to be not a threat. If you interfere again, though, I will not hesitate, and I will kill you.'' Then he turned to James. I forgot that he was even here, hiding away, not fighting. The coward.
''Come James. We have things to do.'' In the blink of an eye, the two disappeared in clouds of black dust. Goddess, I hate black.
I bet before you read this, you thought it would be the end of the book. Well, this isn't one of those cute little short stories. This is the beginning of a novel, which is the beginning of a trilogy, which is the beginning of a series. TODAY MY PROFILE, TOMORROW ALL OF WATTPAD, THEN THE WORLD, THEN THE UNIVERSE!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!!! »:) Anyways, what'd you think. Is it good? Will Alexander live? Or will Nicholas and Elizabeth be forced to go alone? Or will someone else come?...
