Chapter 28: Awakened

My eyes snap open. What the?... What happened?... Then it comes flooding back to me... The boy. It was him. And I lost. I remember the wave of snow and ice hurtling toward me. And then I remember nothing. Oh, he would pay. They would all pay... In a flash of anger, I erupt in a flash of fire. Surging up, I break through my icy grave, and into the air.

I scan the area. No... They're long gone. How long have I been out? A few hours. In a fit of rage, I raise my hands, and pillars of ice raise up around me. I snap them forward, and the ice goes smashing back to the ground. It was my fault! They got away because of me!

''Damn it! Damn it all!''

I crash back down towards the earth, smashing the ice all around me as I do. I sigh.

''I guess it's back to Zaria...''

Goddess, it feels good to be back... I hate the snow. I hate the cold. Probably the reason I lost. I was out of my element. I stumble through the quiet, abandoned city, and to the castle. The guard takes one look at me, and his face turns pale.

''Demon!''

I slam him into the wall.

''I'm not a demon, you idiot!''

''Oh, Lord Zirkon. My apologies. You're just... Slightly unrecognizable. I clench my fists. I guess being buried in the snow and ice for who knows how long does that to some people...

The guard opens the gates to the castle, and I walk in, not in the greatest of moods. I see James walking towards me.

''What happened, Lord Zirkon?!''

''I lost to the boy. I was out of my element. They were deep in the mountains, and they got away...''

''Do you need something, my Lord?'' He pulls a bottle out of his jacket, and elixir.

''Thank you, James.'' I down the bottle, wanting its warming effects.

''What can be done?'' Asks James. I reach into my cloak, and pull out a ball. A Seeing Crystal. I look into it, and watch Nicholas and that girlfriend of his creeping through the Chasm Caves. Oh, yes. This can be put to my advantage... I close my eyes, summoning one of my most horrific beasts. Yes, that should take care of them.

''Has the problem been solved?''

''It shall, James... It shall...''
