Once they were gone, Zelda managed to cut herself free of the bonds with her knife. She cut me free and we ran to my grandfather. It didn't look good. He was bruised. His nose and mouth was bleeding. Not to mention the wound to his body. I ripped my clothing and put it on the wound to slow the bleeding.
''Oh Goddess, are you going to be alright, Grandfather?'' He didn't answer, but at least he was conscious.
''I'm sorry, Nicholas, and Elizabeth, and everyone. I have failed you, and I have doomed us all...'' He said weakly.
''No, you haven't,'' said Elizabeth.
''I have. He was stronger than before, and I couldn't stop him. You don't understand. After what he... did last time... not even the Goddess knows what he'll do next...''
''It's going to be okay, Grandfather. You're going to be alright!'' I didn't know whether what I was saying would be true or not.
''No, Nicholas. My day is done. It is my time to go.''
''No! Please don't leave me...''
''You can't die, you just can't!'' Spoke Elizabeth.
''But I am... And now, Nicholas... and Elizabeth... It is your time... Do what others could not... Correct where others have failed...''
''Look at me!'' I told him. He smiled.
''You have her eyes...'' He said. I had no idea who ''her'' was. Out of nowhere, a blinding light flashed, and I watched as a woman appeared. She had long, brown hair. Her eyes were blue and beautiful, yet determined. She wore tight, white clothing with blue and red circular lines covering it. She had a blue cape. Long sapphire earrings dangled from her ears. Sapphires also covered her clothing. Did everybody dress in their favourite colour nowadays?
''Master Drake!'' She said, running to us. ''Are you okay?''
''Do I look okay, Zelda?'' He said with a smile.
''I can save you!'' She said, a worried expression on her face.
''No... The boy needs to learn on his own... This is my destiny...''
''Very well.''
Grandfather, who is this?'' I asked.
''This is Zelda, an old friend of mine...'' Zelda bowed to me.
''A pleasure to see you again, Nicholas.'' See me again?... I looked to Elizabeth, who was giving Zelda a puzzled look.
''Zelda... Guide these two... Take them to the Oracle... He will tell them their path...''
''As you wish.''
''It's nice to see you again, Zelda...'' He looked at Elizabeth and I. ''You can trust her... And... Good luck... May we meet again... One day...'' Another light flashed, but this time nobody appeared. My grandfather disappeared.
''What happened to him?'' I asked Zelda, who I was positive I recognized from somewhere.
''He has ascended to the heavens, a hero,'' she said, a tear going down her cheek. I myself struggled to keep the tears in. Even Elizabeth cried a bit. After we all gained back our composure, Zelda took us down the tower. I wanted to get as far away from that place as I could. And we did. We walked deep into the night. The entire time nobody spoke. I still couldn't shake the feeling that I knew her from somewhere, and the puzzled look on Elizabeth's face did not disappear. Finally we stopped, deep in the woods. I decided I'd ask.
''Who are you?...''
''I was about to ask the same,'' said Elizabeth. Zelda turned to us, a smile on her lips and a look in her eye.
''Well... It looks as if I have some explaining to do.''
