Chapter 17: The Red Scarf (Special)

-At The Mall-

Eren's POV:

Yes! My plan is going well. I think....

I shouldn't get my hopes up too high though. What Mikasa wants for her birthday may or may not be in this mall but that's what I'm going to find out. We passed a bunch of stores, like, Christa's Salon, Connie's Spring Rolls, Levi's Jeans (Author: XD), Marco's Pizza, Titan Arcade, and a bunch of other stores before reaching L'Japan and Tokyo And Bath Shop.

After I got the items my mom needed, we decided to look around. It was a mini-date in a way. But I didn't steer away from my true objective; find what Mikasa wants for her birthday!

Mikasa was amazed at all the stores we looked at; she even wanted to buy some stuff from them but she didn't bring money on her and I used up all the money my mom gave me for the beauty products. What she wanted to buy didn't seem like a definite choice to buy her as a present.

"Hey Eren! Isn't that the new anime store?" asked Miksasa.

"Huh?" I turned to look at where Mikasa was pointing. In the distance, we could see a new store still being built but it already had it's sign out and was almost finished.

"The Amazon of Japan.... such a cool name," I remarked. We passed on by more stores till we reached the exit. Then I noticed a few banners there advertising The Amazon of Japan.

"Grand Opening on February 10 at 6am! First 50 customers get the limited edition of Micasa's Red Scarf!" I read aloud. When Mikasa heard that she fainted in my arms.

"Mikasa, are you okay?" She quickly regained consciousness but couldn't hold in her squeals and excitement.

"I really want that! I will definitely line up early before-" she stopped and looked down sadly.

"Uh, Mikasa? What's wrong?"

"I just remembered.... I can't come to the grand opening because there's still school and if I went there and then to school I would be very late for the classes and I don't want to be scolded by the teachers.

"I know. It's sad...." Inside, I was screaming with joy and happiness. I have found the perfect present! Now all I have to do is wait a day and wake up extremely early, I was able to do so before.

I looked at my watch and saw the time. "Mikasa, it's already time for us to get home."

"Awww...."

"Hey, don't worry! We still have the date! We'll be here again and this time we'll bring money! By the way Mikasa, do you mind if I move our date to Valentines Day?"

"Not really... I guess it's more romantic that way," she replied.

"Well, let's go home...."

-Mission: Birthday Present!-

"Obtain the limited edition Micasa's Red Scarf for Mikasa at The Amazon Of Japan at 6am on Feb 10"

"Start!"

FEB 10, 5:15 AM-

The first person has already lined up.

Eren's POV:

Great! I woke up early! But I can't let my parents know!

I quietly changed and did my normal routine but skipped breakfast. Then I slipped out my window and climbed down. I hopped on my bike and pedaled straight to the mall.

FEB 10, 5:30 AM-

At least 25 people have already lined up.

Mikasa's POV:

I sighed. I couldn't take the chance or risks to get that scarf.... I regret it. At least it's my birthday! I wonder what Eren- Oh no! I forgot to tell him about my birthday!!!!

I immediately changed and rushed to Eren's house.

FEB 10, 5:45 AM-

More than 35 people are in line and Eren hasn't showed up yet.

Eren's POV:

WHAT THE HECK? Why is there so much traffic? Especially if it's this early in the morning? If I knew this was going to happen, I would have gone way earlier. I sighed waiting for the light to change to red and for me to bike across...

Mikasa's POV:

I ran so hard..... it felt like a marathon..... I kept huffing and puffing.....

Anyway, I wiped off the sweat from my forehead and was about to knock on the door when I noticed the window to Eren's room was open.

Curious enough, I sneaked around and climbed up and through the window. To my surprise Eren wasn't in bed or anywhere in his room.

I climbed back down and knocked on the door. Eren's parents answered the door.

"My, Mikasa! Fancy seeing you here early in the morning! What are you doing here?" questioned Eren's Dad.

"I'm here to see Eren. I forgot to tell him that it's my birthday, surprisingly."

"Oh I see! Well it looks like he didn't wake up yet. You could wait here though," replied Eren's Mom.

Wait, so if Eren isn't in his room, the parents think he's asleep, and he left his window open, that means....!

Greeting the parents goodbye, I ran along the way to the mall hoping to see Eren.

FEB 10, 5:55 AM-

48 people have lined up already. Seriously, where is Eren?

Eren's POV:

YEEESSSSS!!!!!! I finally made it with 5 minutes to spare. Now if I can make it and be the 50th person in line.... I ran with all my might to the store where a long line had gathered. I counted the people in line and despair filled me when the last person in line was already the 50th person.

WHY??? HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?!?!?! I'M ONLY ONE AWAY FROM BEING 50TH!!!!!!!

Regardless, I lined up anyway, hoping for a miracle.....

The clock struck 6 and the store opened to the customers. One by one the first 50 started receiving the scarfs. And just when you least expected it, the 50th guy in line was about to receive the last scarf when he started to shake. Then he ran out before obtaining the scarf to most likely the restrooms.

I never knew where he went after he ran out exactly but I was so shocked and the same time overjoyed to have received the scarf. The clerk, with the name Mikorin on his name tag handed me the last limited edition red scarf from Attack on Giant.

"Congratulations on getting this very special last scarf. It was miracle for you wasn't it when that guy in front of you had to use the restroom?"

"Yep! A very big miracle!"

"Then cherish this well!"

"Thanks!" I walked out of that store full of pride and glory.

"EREN!!!!!" I turned around to see Mikasa running up to me and hugging me tightly.

"Eren, I was looking all over for you! I forgot to tell you-"

"Happy Birthday Mikasa!" I butted in wrapping the red scarf lightly around her. She looked at me and then at the scarf. She smiled and her eyes shined. She even cried a little, but it was tears of joy. She pulled me in, our lips gently touching each others... I felt a great sensation within me as she pulled away and hugged me.

"Thanks Eren. This is the best birthday present ever."
