It All Started Like This... (Eren X Mikasa)

Chapter 21: Truths Revealed

Levi's POV:

I led the way into the school and into the guy's restroom. I couldn't of another place where I could tell Eren about the truth.

"Seriously Levi? The restrooms?" I could see Eren was getting even more doubtful.

"Just deal with it," I said as I opened the stall. "Go in."

Eren sighed and stepped in while I shut the stall door behind us. It was a bit tight considering that this was a restroom stall. When I turned around, my face was so close to his. We both turned red and flushed. Shocked, I immediately jumped back forgetting that it was a stall for a moment and hit my head. I slumped down, my head full of hurt.

"I shouldn't be worrying right now but still, are you okay?" Eren asked.

"I'm fine. My head just hurts. That's all," I replied. "You don't mind if I just sit down for a while right?"

"It's alright...."

"Great....."

"Just get on with it already. You are wasting my time," Eren said impatiently. I just sighed and turned my head up to look at him in the eyes.

"Now promise me, you will try your best not to doubt me or not interrupt me so much. I will be telling you the truth that involves me and it's hard to believe.... but then again you believed Mikasa so maybe you will too...." I started.

"How do you know that?" he asked.

"Another time," I replied. "Now for the truths......"

--Levi's Backstory (Told in his POV)--

I was actually very nice in the beginning even before I met Mikasa. I was just your average friendly middle school student. I transferred to the same middle school as Mikasa, SNK Middle School. You may have already heard this from Mikasa (Chapter 10) but I was almost in all of her classes. Since I was new and sat next to her, it was very obvious that I was going to ask her for help. And that's when our friendship began. She was very shy at first and I was always the one starting the conversations. I had lots of trouble starting a conversation when it was my first day because she was so beautiful. I mean, I couldn't believe that I was sitting next to her. Regardless, that wall between us broke down one by one until she started becoming more talkative and friendly. The change was noticeable and pretty soon she was popular. Every morning she would be surrounded by our classmates but she would always come to me. She became more sociable and nice. And for that, she thanked me. That was when I started to feel a lot more hot around Mikasa. I started to have a crush on her and eventually I confessed and asked her out. She kindly replied, "Yes." And so we started dating happily for a few months.

But here is the unheard part:

I was completely oblivious to Jean's attitude and having a crush on Mikasa himself. So when I came home one day, he asked me kindly to help him out with moving some stuff out of the basement for his project. I, being the nice guy I was, agreed and went down to the basement. However, it was dark and Jean had locked the door behind us. I was curious to what Jean was doing but he immediately grabbed me and sat me down on a chair. I couldn't see anything obviously because it was dark so my eyes hurt when Jean turned on a lamp directed at me. Somehow in the dark, he got me tied up and I couldn't do anything. From that moment on, I knew I was going to be in a world of hurt.....

Eren's POV:

"So what happened?" I asked.

"I was tortured simultaneously after that. So much that I couldn't handle it. Jean even kept telling me to change my attitude so Mikasa could instead run away to Jean and he would be her hero....."

"I never knew Levi....."

"Well, I couldn't tell anyone. Not even the police. I had been blackmailed not only to keep this secret but to help hide the evidence and I hate myself for not standing up," I heard him say while starting to cry and tear up.

"It's okay," I told him while bringing him up and hugging him (NOT embracing).

"This was never meant to happen..." he sobbed.

"Why are you telling me this now?" I asked still feeling bad for him. How can anyone not pity him for going through all that? Sure, he may have been a jerk and douchebag to Mikasa but come on! He was tortured!

"Well... here's another truth....."

"What?"

"Yesterday," he started. "I saw you guys in the park..."

"Wait, seriously?" I remarked.

"Yeah... I was hiding in the bushes after I saw you guys on the bench and overheard everything. I swear I wasn't being a stalker! I just coincidentally happened to go to the same park as you guys to relieve some stress."

"So you weren't trying to stalk us like your step-brother Jean?" I questioned. "Not at all?"

"Of course not. But to be honest, Jean isn't even my stepbrother. He's just my cousin," he responded.

"Well, I could figure that out but seriously? What else have you not told me?"

Levi said nothing. Only silence. Complete silence.

"No wait! Don't tell me there's more?" Levi only nodded.

-Final Truth (Levi's POV)-

Jean was the mastermind from the beginning ever since childhood. When he was only just five years old, he was learning how to ride a.... horse. Since the horse didn't like him, it kicked him off and Jean landed on his face. The horse started to go on a rampage and was galloping towards him. He was going to be crushed and run over (A/N: Brutal, I know.) if not for Mikasa who just happened to be at the stalls and ran over to Jean and got him out of the way. She was only four at the time. Jean fell in love with her ever since. But when I came and Mikasa started to go out with me, Jean became angry, as I later found out the hard way. You know already about the torturing part and the attitude change. Well after that, Jean "saved" Mikasa from me and became the hero he wanted to be. He imitated me, the nice and friendly guy, and eventually Mikasa fell in love with him too. She was gullible and naive at the time. Somehow along the way, as I watched him from the sidelines looking past his sneering at me and marking his territory, his love for Mikasa was no longer love. It was obsession. He started stalking her and taking pictures anywhere, anytime when they weren't hanging out. And you know the rest from there.....

Eren's POV:

"Well, now I know everything.... what are we going to do?" I asked.

"Don't worry," Levi reassured me. "I have a plan; I'll lead you to our house and we'll find the pictures, I know where they are hidden but we have to hurry. Jean is planning to use them on you."

"But why me? Why are you helping me specifically?"

"Because...." he replied. "You are the nicest guy I know. Nicer and stronger than I could ever be..."

He opened the stall door and before leaving me to my thoughts, he said, "Tell me when you are ready to go through the plan."

He left, his footsteps fading away into the distance until there was only complete silence again......

Then the janitor came.
