It All Started Like This... (Eren X Mikasa)

Chapter 23: It's The Day

Levi's POV: 

I sighed and looked at the calendar once more. Then I sat back down softly into my chair. I sprang up and looked at the calendar again. Then I sat back down again. I repeated the process for quite a long time still not thinking that today was the day. Jean opened the door abruptly while I was still jumping from my chair which distracted me. 

I slipped on the floor and banged my head against the top of my work desk. He sighed and said, "
You're such a klutz, Levi."

I laughed but in my mind I was mentally preparing myself and going through the plan in my head.

Jean's POV:

Ha ha ha! He is such a klutz. Hopefully he doesn't act like that during our operation. I already tampered with the photos (using Photoshop) and made it look like Eren took them!

 I'm pretty Levi is running through the plan in his head but that's no excuse for me to not prepare as well. 

I ran downstairs and saw that my parents were dressed up for work. 

"Hey son," said my dad. "We'll be out of work earlier than usual so we'll bring you and Levi some food from Marco's Pizza. Their half-off deal is still going on!"

"Thanks Dad! Levi and I would like a half cheese and half pepperoni pizza please!"

"You got it son! We'll be back before you know it!" he exclaimed finishing his coffee and kissing me on the head. Then he left the house with mom and drove away. I breathed a sigh of relief and rushed back upstairs. I went back to Levi's room and told him the change in plans.

"Hmm. I'll go ahead and tell Eren," he replied. He started dialing Eren's number and the end of the line was ringing.

Eren's POV:

I got out of the steamy shower with a towel wrapped around me and walked out of the bathroom. The phone rang in my bedroom as I rushed over to it to pick it up. 

"Hello?"

"Hey, this is Levi."

"Oh hey Levi! You ready to start the operation soon?"

"Ready as I ever will be but there's been a change of plans. We'll have to move the operation a few hours early," Levi stated.

"Sure, I can work with that. When will we start?"

"At high noon," he said in a serious tone. 

"Right. Meet me at the cafe during lunch then," I replied. I hung up and got dressed in my casual clothes. I went downstairs and picked up the toolbox with tools like a flashlight, a wrench, a screwdriver, etc. I said goodbye to my parents and rushed out the door. I ran on over to the famous Black Neko Cafe, the place we were originally going to meet in the evening. I ordered a Milky Choco cappuccino with some  chocolate chip shaped neko cookies.

I sat down at a table in the far back next to the window and sipped down on my cappuccino. Everything about this place was neko-themed. The booth ends were the faces of nekos and so was the tabletops. The windows had paw shaped tints on them and the mugs had black nekos painted on them. Even the cream on the top of the cappuccino was delicately shaped like a neko. There was pretty much nekos everywhere in here. When I looked out the window, I even thought I was seeing Mikasa with neko ears and a tail. I just chuckled to myself and thought I was going crazy while I stared down at my coffee...

Wait..... Mikasa?

I looked out the window again and saw Mikasa wrapping the red scarf around herself in the corner of Erza's StarBerry Cake Shop. She walked out and I quickly ducked my head below the window. I waited for a few seconds before peeking again and saw her walking off into the other direction. 

Phew!

That was one disaster avoided. I grew back into relief and sipped on my coffee once more. 

Levi's POV:

"Hey, Jean! I better meet up with Eren and bring him here!"

"You go do that," replied Jean. I smiled and went out the door. I started on walking over to the Black Cat Cafe and made sure to get out of sight from the house or Jean. Then I pulled out my phone and called 911. 

"Hello, you have reached the emergency hotline. What's your emergency?"

"Hi, I would like to alert the police that they have a chance to catch a person who can be charged with domestic battery and stalking charges. However, this person has been able to avoid the police before so they would need to be careful."

"I see. Where will this person be located?"

"We're both in the same city, Wall Maria, 216955. I would also like to request that Mr. Kirstein take this case."

"Well, I assume you know him and trust him enough?"

"Yes mam," I replied.

"Right. Then I'll contact him and we'll see what we can do."

"Thank you very much," I said before hanging up. 

The ace up my sleeve may be unpredictable but with Mr. Stallion taking the case, I'm pretty sure Jean will be arrested when he is least expecting it...

I continued running and finally reached Black Cat Cafe and met up with Eren.

"Hey Eren."

"Hi Levi." I sat down and he passed me a neko cookie.

"We'll proceed with the plan as normal."

"Right," I replied. We went over the plan one last time to make sure everything was understood and we would know what to do.

"It's almost 12. Shall we get going?"

"Yeah." We both got up from our table and left through the side door. 

Jean's POV:

I stuck the tampered photos in a box where Levi said he would lead Eren to and trick him. But the thing is, I'm one step ahead. I already have the trick before Levi did.

I was about to head upstairs and hide when there was someone was knocking on the door. I got to the door expecting Levi there saying the plan failed or something but no. It was cable men. 

"Hello, are you Jean Kirstein?"

"Yesss?" I replied reluctantly. 

"Yeah hi. We're from DirectTitan Network. Your mom gave us a complaint about your internet and TV. She said that you would be the man in charge of the house while your parents were away," stated the cable men.

"I see...." Are you kidding mom? Why did you never tell me about this?

"We just need to look throughout the place. Don't worry, we just need to see the wires and network dish."

"Ok.... you can come in," I gulped. I hid it well, so there's nothing I should be worried about right?

4 men stepped through the door, 3 staying downstairs and 1 going to the roof. 

"Did you need some help getting to the dish?" I asked politely.

"Why you are so kind!" he replied sweetly. It disgusted me. This messes up my plans. 

Regardless, I couldn't act suspicious so I helped me get to the basement and opened the roof window where the dish was next to it. He checked it out and ran through the wires. 

"Hmm. The wire seems to be cut partially. We'll have to replace it," said the guy.

"And how long will that take?" I asked curiously.

"Well, it would take about 5 hours but we have to get the new wire first. We'll have to return in an hour or so to get the wire since we don't have one long enough that is available. "

"Alright then," I replied leading him back downstairs again. The other 3 guys said the wires downstairs were fine and walked out the door.

As soon as it shut behind them, I sighed with relief and went into hiding upstairs. I brought one of the kitchen knives with me just in case something happens.....
