Elizabeth Williams

Dad and Mom had already been in bed for an hour when I decided to make my way upstairs. I walked down the hall to my room, where I got my pajamas on and laid down on my bed.
For some reason, I couldn't fall asleep, so I just sat there looking out my window at the forest. I was so caught up in the beauty of the woodland below that I didn't even realize when my door opened and my sister came in to sit down next to me.
"Hey, Liz." She said.
"What's up, Kate?" I asked.
My sister, Kaitlyn, was two years younger than me. She trusts me with her life and I've been lying to her the whole time about who I really am. And I felt horrible.
"Since its your birthday, I decided to get you a little something special. Just from me."
"But you already got me a present. For Mom, Dad and you." I said, confused.
"No, I just signed the card. They don't know I got you anything." Kate pulled out a long small box that looked like it could be holding a necklace.
"Here. Open it." She said, grinning like an idiot.
I took the box and opened it. Inside was a silver-chained necklace with a howling wolf hanging from it. It was so beautiful. I looked up at her with watery eyes.
"Thank you. It's perfect. You don't know how much this means to me."
"I knew you loved wolves, so when I saw it, I knew it would be what you wanted." She said with a warm smile on her smile.
Ok. This is it. I can't keep my secret from her anymore. I would hate myself if I didn't.
"Can I tell you something?" I blurted in a nervous and unsure voice.
"Sure."
"I mean it, Kaitlyn. No one can know. Not even Mom and Dad." I used her full name, letting her know that I was dead serious.
"Liz, what's going on?"
"Promise you won't freak?" I asked with a serious but worried expression.
"I swear."
"Ok. Follow me."
And with that, we walked out of my room and quietly downstairs to the front door.
"Are you ready?" I asked.
"Why are we outside?" She looked around worriedly.
"Because you'd scream and wake our parents if we were inside." I said as if it were obvious.
"WHAT?!?" Kate screeched.
I rolled my eyes. "See, I told you. Just watch and stop flippin' out. Got it?"
She nodded. Taking a deep breath, I said, "I'm a werewolf."
