Chapter 44

He'd been following me all day. All frickin' day! Apparently, this boy doesn't understand the concept of don't come anywhere near me. And who do you ask is annoying the shit out of me and following me around like a fucking creepy stalker?

Why, Ben Robertson of course.

He'd sneak a glance at me every five seconds as if to make sure I was still there. I wasn't a fucking ghost that can just vanish into thin air! I'm pretty sure he thought I hadn't noticed how he'd be in every hallway I was or how he made sure to glare at whoever spoke to me.

I felt a mischievous smile make its way to my lips as I thought of a plan. Time to have some fun.

I made a quick right turn down a hallway and headed towards an empty classroom before I hid behind the door. I heard Ben's footsteps quicken when he realized he'd lost me. As soon as I saw his figure walk past me, I grabbed hold of the back of his shirt before whipping him into the classroom. Slamming the door shut, I turned to him.

"What do you think you're doing?" I sneered, placing my hands on my hips for extra effect.

"Nothing. I wasn't doing anything." He shrugged mindlessly but I didn't miss the look of unease he got when he saw that I was blocking the only escape route.

I snorted. "You've been following me around all day."

"Have not." Ben argued back.

"Have to."

"Have not!"

"Have to!"

"No!"

"Yes!"

"NO!" He screamed.

"YES!" I yelled just as loud. "Don't act like you didn't, Ben. I have eyes, I'm not blind!"

"Ok, fine! So what if I looked after you for a while. What's so wrong with that?"

"Looking after me? I'm not a child! And it's called stalking. That's what's wrong with it, Benjamin! Do your ears not work? Because I'm pretty sure I deliberately told you to stay the hell away from me."

Ben's featured visibly hardened at the mention of his full name. He never liked being called that so I knew I'd pushed the wrong button.

"Don't call me that." He growled out, taking slow steps towards me.

I tried to keep the panic and fear at bay but as he got closer and closer, memories flooded back to me. Unwanted memories. Maybe this wasn't as fun as I originally thought it would be.

****Flashback****

It had been a couple days since Michael had told Ben to stay away from me. I knew he'd be moving soon, so I decided to say goodbye, no matter how much fear it caused to well up inside me. He had still been my best friend once.

"Ben?" I called after him as he was leaving football practice. He ignored me.

"Ben! Hey, wait up!" I yelled louder this time. Still no response.

"Benjamin!" I screamed at the top of my lungs in frustration.

At this, he froze. Ever so slowly, he turned towards me with a sneer on his face. "What did you call me?" He hissed through his teeth, walking towards me at a reasonably fast pace.

"I called you by your name?" I answered, confused. I looked up at him since he was now right in front of me.

"It's just Ben." He snarled.
