Elizabeth Williams
~~~As I walked over to the campfire, I tried to stay calm so my parents wouldn't think anything had happened.
"Oh, Elizabeth. You scared me half to death." My mother said while running over to me.
"Sorry, mom. But I always come back, don't I?"
"Yeah, I know. But it's my job to worry about you kids."
"Yes, Mom. I know." I looked down at my feet and realized that one of my shoes were missing. "Uh, I'll be right back. I have to go grab my shoe. It must have fallen off."
"Ok, dear. Come back soon though."
"I will." And with that, I ran back into the woods and shifted my eyes so I could see the forest floor. I quickly grabbed my shoe once I found it and started to walk back when I heard something.
"You know, you aren't really good at hiding." I said to him.
He sighed and came out from behind a tree. Nick just shrugged and walked back over to me. His normally dull brown eyes where now a beautiful golden brown color. I knew that he had shifted his eyes too.
"Wow." Nick breathed out.
"What?"
"Your eyes are gorgeous. I've never seen such green eyes... Wait, I thought you had blue eyes?" He said, his face scrunching up in confusion.
I instantly blushed at his comment. "Yeah well I do have blue eyes. At least when I'm a human. When I'm a wolf... well, this happens." I said, pointing to my eyes.
"That's a little weird. I mean when I'm a wolf, my brown eyes are mixed with a little gold, but the brown is still there. With you, they turn a completely different color."
"Yeah, thanks. Now go home! I'll see you at school tomorrow, yeah?" I turned my back to him and walked away.
"See ya, she-wolf!!!" He yelled after me. I waved my hand goodbye and ran back to my family. Maybe that kid wasn't so bad after all.
~~~I ran quickly back to school and drove home in my truck before I got caught on school grounds. When I got home my mom instantly started asking me questions.
"Where have you been? How was school? Are you hurt? Did you meet anybody?"
"Mom! I was out exploring and I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it. My first day at school was fine and yeah, I met one person." I finished, out of breath.
"Are you-"
"No, mom. I didn't get hurt."
"Well good. So who's this new person you met?" She asked eagerly.
"Her name is Elizabeth. We have two classes together and my locked is right next to hers." I said, scratching the back of my head.
"Sounds like somebody likes her." My mom cooed teasingly.
"What? No, Mom! I do not like Liz!" I huffed.
She laughed. "Yeah, ok. And you already have a nickname for her?"
I scoffed. "Whatever. I'm going to bed."
I could still hear her laughing when I shut my door. Stupid wolf hearing. Why would my mom think I had a crush on Elizabeth? I mean really, we just met and we found out that we were both werewolves for crying out loud! But I had to admit, she wasn't anything like me. Where she was graceful and stealthy, I was clumsy and noisy. Where she was strong and dominant, I was weaker and for some reason, submissive around her. She was diffidently a mystery I wanted to solve.
