today's topic is....intimacy. yep.

more specifically; intimacy between (straight) girl friends and (straight) guy friends.

i was thinking about this the other day and it kind of irritated my soul, like a constant bright light shining in your eye..

why is it that when girls are close with their friends it's normal but guys can't act the same way?

for example; if two girls who are really really close and really good friends...if they hug, drink from the same bottle, have nicknames for each other, sleep in the same bed, cuddle on the couch with blankets and movies and food, hold hands, ride one bike and sometimes even kiss each other (on the cheek mostly).
if they do all those things, they are not labeled gay. they're just (best) friends.

when guys do it, suddenly it's not okay, and 'oh my god that's so gay wow'.

WHY.

WHY IS THAT ANY DIFFERENT.

WHY IS INTIMACY BETWEEN GIRLS OKAY AND BETWEEN GUYS NOT.

the other day, i saw two classmates of mine hold hands on the stairs. i call it holding hands, but really it was one of them holding onto the wrist of the other which i do all the time to my friends too because it's friggen crowded and i will trip and fall down the stairs if I don't.
i think i was the only one who saw them and I don't think they noticed i saw.

when i first saw it, my reaction wasn't there at all.

what did you think?...i was climbing the stairs, pabo. i would've fallen on my face if i had paid any actual attention to it. (I'm a potato)

-but then, when i realized what i had just witnessed, my eyes traveled back to their arms, still connected.

i can never be sure about this, of course, but i am pretty sure these classmates of mine we're talking about here are both cis straight boys...pretty sure.

one of them has a girlfriend, the other had a crush on my friend who happens to be a girl. they could be bi, though. i guess we'll never know for sure. (all i can say is that they were both romantically interested in someone else when this happened.)

anyways, after i saw them, i went to my geography class and sat down next to my friend. i quickly, and sorta surprised still, whispered what i had seen, and she reacted similar to me.

next we discussed the topic more closely, because it really is interesting how messed up our society is.

she too, pointed out that i hold onto her arm all the time in that situation, and no one thinks that's peculiar, but when two guys do it, it is.

I don't know.
