The crowd eventually broke up and I let out a sigh of relief. Whiteripple, our deputy, padded over to us. "Hey Batstrike, the branch in the warriors den fell again, can you help me move it?"
"Sure." He replied and the deputy walked over to the warriors den, "Oh shoot I'm suppose to be on border patrol." He paused and looked at me, "Wait here I'll have someone take my place."
He padded to a white and ginger she-cat then back over to me, "This is my mate, Lilypatch, she's agreed to take you, sorry gotta go bye." He said and whisked off to the warriors den.
"H-Hai." I meowed shyly.
Lilypatch let out a loud welcoming purr, "Hello Batstrike brags about you all the time, shall we get going?"
"Yes lets go, sorry I've never been on a border patrol before." I sighed.
"No problem at all, follow me i'll instruct you as we go." She purred and padded over to Hollowleaf and Leopardsnow.
"Heh got stuck with Batstrike's apprentice again?" Hollowleaf laughed.
Lilypatch smiled, "Yeah he's always running around busy, not that I don't like getting to steal his apprentices. We should get going so we beat the FireClan patrol.
The two warriors nodded and started walking outside. I cautiously followed them, not knowing what to say. These cats were new to me despite living in the same clan.
"Hey kit are you alright? you look like you've seen a badger." Leopardsnow asked.
"Yeah I'm fine sorry, it's Foxpaw by the way." I said trying to lower my nervous hackles.
"I'm Hollowleaf and this is Leopardsnow, don't worry we won't eat you." She purred.
"No promises." Leopardsnow joked.
The warriors started weaving through trees and bushes and I smelled a think unfamiliar scent. "What is that?"
"That's FireClan's territory, smells gross doesn't it?Did Batstrike not show you this close?" Leopardsnow asked.
"No we stopped at the tree over there." I replied.
"Too bad, here help us remark our border." Lilypatch said encouragingly.
I weaved along with them, "There you go! Look she's a natural." Hollowleaf meowed.
Leopardsnow nodded, "I can't wait for the gathering tonight, I heard LightningClan and FireClan were getting in each others fur. It's going to be a fun first gathering for you."
"What's there to fight about? I thought we were suppose to stay on our own sides." I asked.
Lilypatch rolled her eyes, "We are but those mousebrains get greedy sometimes. How are you and the other apprentices getting along?" She asked as she rescented a tree.
"Good, Honeypaw was really nice and welcoming." I purred.
"And Lynxpaw?" She pressed.
I tilted my head, "Eh.. he was pretty nice too." I stammered.
Everyone started laughing, "Oh dear you don't have to lie for him. We all know he can be cold." Lilypatch sighed.
"Why is he so grumpy? Not to be mean or nosey I'm just curious." I asked quietly.
"I've been wondering about that too, is it because of his eye?" Hollowleaf asked.
Lilypatch shook her head, "He was normal after the fox incident..for a while. Batstrike got distant and I think Lynxpaw was upset by that."
