I padded back into the pine-scented camp with Lynxtail trailing after me. I felt absolutely terrible about postponing my answer but I couldn't live with myself if I left kits fatherless because he was busy with our kits.
I saw Honeydew laying outside the nursery happily chatting with Rivershimmer. Silverfox watched them from the inside with a blank expression on her face. "At least someone sees through her act.."
Honeydew brightened up when she saw my friend, "Lynxtail! We should start thinking of names. I wonder how many-"
"Stop it with the pregnant act you aren't! You're ruining my life with this announcement I don't even think you are pregnant let alone the kits you carry are mine." Lynxtail growled.
Rivershimmer padded up to us with slitted eyes, "Stop stressing her out its bad for the kits!"
Lynxtail flattened his ears and backed away to my side. Rivershimmer had been extremely protective of any queen ever since Reedwind's death. "I better be going." I excused myself and left.
I let out a long sigh and looked north where FireClan's border was, "I wonder how Bonepaw is... maybe he was made a warrior. I know I promised Spotstar I wouldn't talk to him but I want to make sure he's ok since he was raked up by that bear."
I slipped out of camp when no one was looking, I needed to get away from all of the drama. When everything cleared up me and Lynxtail could be mates, he was the only tom without a real mate in my clan. I decided to just go on border patrol, and possibly 'accidentally' run into Bonepaw. I marked trees and bushes like normal so I would have an alibi. The grass tickled my black paws, it felt good to get out of camp.
I took a long calming sigh and could taste the scent of pines in my mouth. I kept walking along the border, my hopes of seeing my friend started to deplete. I heard muffled growling and hissing and my ears shot up. "H-Hello? anyone there?" I called out.
There was silence and I quickened my pace down the border. I continued calling out but heard nothing accept for the muffled yowls getting louder. I was pelting at this rate and scanning the forest at the same time. I saw a flash of white wave behind a bush and I ran behind to investigate.
"Get out of here!" I growled at it.
It got up from what it was tearing at, "Bonepaw!" I yelped. I narrowed my eyes and glared at the arctic fox, "Who are you and what are you doing here?"
"Don't look at me this thing attacked me when I crossed a thick scent!" The fox growled.
"Yes this is IceClan and FireClan territory, I would advise you to stay out of it. If you do not I will be forced to attack you, please leave." I said.
"You're one of them! How are you talking to me? You speak our language." She growled with a suspicious glare.
I bristled my tail, "Get out now and don't come back!"
She lowered her head then started to back away, "This isn't over! You think you can just do whatever you want but I'll be back with reinforcements! How dare you monsters steal her!" She growled then ran off.
I nudged the white blood-stain tom laying by the bush, "Bonepaw are you alright?"
He opened his green eyes and looked at me, "Yes I'm fine thanks to you. That was incredible, I know you said you lived with foxes but you communicated so well, I couldn't even understand you."
"I'm just happy you're alright, what happened?" I asked checking him for injuries.
"I was out hunting alone and I saw it wandering the territory. I attacked it, I didn't want it to get near the camp." He meowed.
