"Mom look what I can do!" Leafkit called and pounced on his brother Fangkit.
"Be gentle!" I called then let out a sigh.
My daughter's Comitkit and Sheepkit were grooming each others fur. "Toms." Sheepkit huffed.
Leafkit was a ginger and black tabby tom. Fangkit was a mottle white tom with dark brown markings. Cometkit was black and ginger with white spots while her sister, Sheepkit, was pure white like her father.
My kits were one moon old, Silverfox's were three and Rivershimmer's were five. Bonebreaker sat beside our new deputy, Batstrike and stared at his kits proudly.
Silverfox's sons ran out and started playing warrior with my sons. The silver queen laughed and sat beside me, "They grow up fast huh?"
I nodded in agreement, "I'm going to miss them when they're apprentices. I can't believe Spotfur retired to the elders den."
"He was a senior warrior when he was chosen as deputy and its been seasons. His eyesight has been acting up again so that's another reason." Silverfox meowed.
I saw our kits run up two Blackfrost and Spotfur as soon as they stepped out of the elders den. They all sat like little angels and listened to stories about what life was like when they were kits.
I started coming over and Blackfrost had a smirk on his face, "-Yep that Foxpaw sure was a trouble maker."
I rolled my eyes as my kits were dying of laughter, "I don't suppose you were an angelic kit."
"Pff, when I was your age I was one of the top warriors!" Blackfrost hufffed.
Spotfur chuckled and looked at his friend, "Yes you were helping us out a lot when you got stuck in that bramble bush.."
Blackfrost flattened his ears, "Hey kits, watch how a warrior defeats his enemy in one move."
"Aye Blackfrost they're too young!" I grumbled and stood between the elders and my kits.
"Please mom we won't use them in caaamp. We are going to learn them anyways when we're apprentices." Sheepkit meowed.
I looked at them, "One two.....four five...six.. who are we missing?"
Everyone looked at each other, Fangkit frowned, "Where's Leafkit?"
My eyes widened and my maternal instincts came in, "No one panic! Silverfox watch my kits!" I called and darted out of camp.
I heard paw-steps and turned around, "No Fangkit you can't co- Oh Bonebreaker I can't find Leafkit!"
Bonebreaker's ears pricked, "Let's find him, he couldn't have gotten to far."
My mate picked up his scent and we started pelting west, "Oh StarClan please don't go near the ThunderPath."
Me and Bonebreaker were now running full speed towards the Thunderpath, "How did he get so far? His legs are still so stubby!"
I shook my head, "I-I don't know! My eyes widened when I saw his pelt scampering towards the black path, "LEAFKIT!" I wailed.
He didn't hear me and kept going, my eyes widened when I saw a monster start to roar down. "Leafkit!" I wailed again and desperately charged for the Thunderpath.
Tears streamed down my face as the monster roared past. I was praying to StarClan that it missed his tiny body. It felt like it took minutes for it to reveal what was under it. I didn't see my sons pelt, rather a pelt like my own. I stood up and backed away, revealing my son looking around like nothing happened.
