Chapter 3

ROSE

 I Took My Earphones Out My Ears As The Mini Van Made A Complete Stop; I Looked Out Of The Window At A Brown House. They Resembled the Houses on That TV Show 'Everybody Hates Chris’, It Way Much Bigger Then My House. 

"This Is The House!" My Social Worker Said Smiling.  "Go Ahead And Knock On The Door Ill Get Your Things" She Said Opening The Door And Getting Out.

 I Hated Things Like This, What I Suppose To Say When Someone Opens The Door? 'Hey I'm Rose'? I Got Out Of The Van And I Took My Time Walking Up The Steps, I Was Just So Nervous. When I Made It To The Door Susie (My Social Worker) Was Making Her Way Up The Stairs With My Things. I Knocked On The Door Three Times Before Clutching My Old And Worn Out Aero Bag That I Had Got One Christmas. I Balled Up My Fist To Knock On The Door Again But Before My Fist And The Door Could Make Contact It Flung Open. A Brown Skinned Lady Stood There, With Pink Bunny Rabbit House Slippers And A Matching Moo Moo On. 

"I Uhh I'm-" 

 "Rose?" 

"Yes?" I Said 

She Smiled And Embraced Me Into A Warm Hug, I Hugged Back Instantly Feeling That Motherly Love That I Hadn't Received All These Years. She Rocked Me Back And Fourth Repeating 'Rose Rose Rose!’. 

She Finally Let Go And Held My Arms. "Oww Wee You Look Just Like Your Mother When We Were Younger" She Smiled. I Gave Her A Smile In Return Hoping That Was A Compliment.

"Oh Hello Ms. Betty" Susie Said Sounding Out Of Breath. 

 "Come On In Out That Cold" She Said 

"I'm Sorry Ms. Betty but I Have to Get Back to the Care Home, I Was Just Dropping Her Off" Susie Said.

"You’re leaving?" I Asked 

 "Yes Honey but I’ll Be by Next Week to Check up on you" She Said Rubbing Her Hands Together. 

 "Okay Bye" I Said Hugging Her 

"Bye You Guys" She Said Running Down To Her Van.

"Come On In Here Child" My 'Aunt' Said Smiling.

I Stepped Inside Her House And All Of A Sudden I Felt Under Dressed To The Max. The Whole House Was Decorated To The Fullest In Gold And White; It Was Like The Houses You See In The Movies. 

"Leave Your Bags Here, I'll Go Make You--"

            The Front Door Swung Open And Slammed, A Girl Marched In And Ran Upstairs With A Mad Expression On Her Face. 

"That’s Alondra, She's Always Like That" 'Aunt' Betty Said Whispering the Last Part.

  Well If That's How She Acts Then I Guess We Won't Be The Best Of Friends. Soon Enough, I Heard The Same Foot Steps Coming Down The Carpeted Stairs But Lighter. The Girl Came Down And Smiled At Me, My Head Dropped And I Stared At My Flip Flops. She Was So Beautiful, Her Straight White Teeth, A Beauty Mark Right before Her Plump Lips, Her Style, Her Swagger! Everything I've Always Wanted, I Envied Her. 

"Hello." She Said 

 "Hi" I Said Slightly Lifting My Head. I Watched As She Looked At My Clothing In Disapproval, And Most Of All My Shoes (Socks And Flip Flops).

 "Come Let's Get Something To Eat" 'Aunt' Betty Said. "Alondra Take Her Things to the Gue- I Mean Roses Room" 

 She Sucked Her Teeth And Rolled Her Eyes "Why I Gotta Do It?" She Said. 

 "Cause I Said So" Aunt Betty Snapped.

"Ugh! Get On My Nerves" Alondra Mumbled Snatching Up My Bags. 

 "You Better Watch Who You Talkin' To Young Lady" Aunt Betty Yelled.

I Had Settled Down And I Was In My 'New Room’. It Was Big, Had Its Own Bathroom and All, It Was Plain But I Appreciated It. I Lay In My Bed With All The Lights Off Starring Up At The Ceiling.  A Faint Knock At My Door Startled Me A Little, I Sat Up And Told Who Ever Was At My Door To Come In. It Was Alondra . . . She Flicked the Lights On and Smiled At Me. 

"Going To Sleep Already?" She Said.

"No, I'm Just Comfortable with the Lights Out" I said. 

"Oh Okay, I Came In Here To Ask You If You Wanted To Come With Me And Friends To The Mall Tomorrow" She Said. 

"Um Okay" I Slugged. 

She Sat On My Bed Attempting To Have Some Girl Talk, I Wasn't Into It But I Listened Anyway And It Surprisingly Got Interesting. 

"I Love My Boyfriend So Much , Our Relationship Isn't Perfect But I Know He Loves Me , You Know What I'm Sayin' " She Said But I Couldn't Relate , I've Never Had A Boyfriend I Haven't Even Liked A Boy Before . Her Phone Vibrated, She Looked At It and Smiled. 

"I Don't Mean To Ditch You But I'm Going To Boyfriends House" She Said Standing Up. 

 I Nodded Even Though I Didn't Want Her To Leave I Kind of Enjoyed Talking To Her Even Though We Were Complete Opposites , But She's My Cousin And She Excepts Me Just The Way I Am  At Lease I Think So .

When She Left I Went To Sleep Preparing To Go To The Mall With Alondra And Friends. Alondra Is Cool Her Friends Should Be!
