Olivia's P.O.V.

I put on some mascara, and slipped into a fitted dark purple dress. I curled my hair, and managed to clip my bangs up. Then I put on some shiny lipgloss to make my lips sparkle. I wasn't sure if the Marigold Diner was that fancy, but it was a diner. Even though Evan thought this was a dumb idea, I thought it was a good one. And since when did I care about his opinion anyways?

I actually felt pretty. It felt like I was walking down the stairs in slow motion, like in the movies.

"Your so pretty Liv!" Dad complimented me.

"Thanks Dad."

"Ding-Dong!" The doorbell rang.

"Be back before 10:00." Dad told me as I opened the door. "Hey."

"Wow, you look, stunning." He stuttered.

"Thanks." I said. "Bye dad!" I yelled as I shut the door.

He had a black car; not too fancy, and not to junky. It wasn't beaten up, but it had a few scratches. Tanner sweetly opened the car door for me. I hopped right in.

"So... How are you doing?" Tanner asked, breaking the ice.

"Umm, good." I lied.

"Good." He responded. God, I hate it when boys say things you aren't sure how to respond to.

"So..." I said awkwardly.

"How are you doing with the transfer? Are you liking it here?" He wondered.

"I'm doing good. And yeah, I like it here. It's definitely not as small as the other schools I went to. But I like how it's bigger." I explained.

"Good to know. So, I haven't seen you and Liliana hanging out recently. You guys were like, two peas in a pod!"

"Well, she's been... Uhh... Sick." I said leaving out the whole fighting part.

"Oh. Tell her I say 'Get Well!'"

"Will do." I lied again.

"We're here!" Tanner said, arriving into a nicely decorated restaurant with a little fountain in the front.

"Your dad owns this place? So cool!" I gaped.

We entered the glass doors, and we followed the waiter who led us to a table for two by a large window overlooking the town. Then he handed us menus, and left.

"What are you getting?" Tanner asked me.

"I was thinking about getting the Honey Crisp Chicken, but now I'm debating between that and the Grilled Salmon." I said, realizing I sounded like a pig since he was paying.

"Cool. I love salmon, so I'm getting the Grilled Salmon." Tanner informed me.

"I guess I'll go with that as well. I'll have a martini too." I joked.

"I'll get a margarita!" He joked back and we both started laughing. So far, so good. The waiter came back and took our orders, and gave us each a glass of water.

"So?" Tanner sipped his water. "Are you doing any sports?"

"No. But I was thinking about joining tennis. I played that a few years ago and I was really good at it." I miss tennis.

"Sounds like fun." He said dryly.

"So, aren't you in soccer? I've seen one if your games with... Liliana." I asked.

"Yeah I am. And you should have said 'hi!' I would've talked with you." He said nicely.

"I didn't know you back then. I didn't know many people for that matter, and I guess I wasn't feeling very social either." I said. When Tanner opened his mouth to reply, the waiter came and gave us our Grilled Salmon.

"This looks amazing!" I exclaimed.

"Oh, it is." He said, about to dig in. It was so moist and soft, I cut without a knife. Then I slipped it into my mouth.

"Heaven!" I said. It was delicious.

"I know, right? They have the best--" Tanner was cut off by my phone vibrating. I looked at my phone. "Incoming Call From 'Home'" it read.

"Sorry Tanner, I have to take this." I hated to interrupt our date, but it's a call from Dad. I got up and walked over by the ladies room and press the green phone icon that meant answer.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Hey Liv, it's Dad. There's something important you need to see."

And once he said the word 'important', I knew I had to go home.

I walked back to the table we were sitting at. It's so embarrassing having to leave in the middle of a date.

"Uhh... Tanner, my dad says there's an emergency and I need to get home. I'm so sorry!" I said sadly with my cheeks flushing with embarrassment.

"Oh, it's fine. I understand." He said trying to keep his cool, but I could see how disappointed he was when his smile faded. "I'll take you home."
