"Lilly and Georgia practically told everyone they know! Soon more and more people are gonna start talking about it too." Jennifer and I were in the locker rooms changing out of our extra sweaty gym uniforms. Thursdays are cardio workout days, so we did a lot of running.
She was talking about Lilly and Georgia's excitement of Marcel and I dating. They were jumping for joy when I told them about the kiss, well kisses, that Marcel and I shared on Saturday night.
I shoved my foul-smelling uniform in my locker and put on my regular clothes with Jennifer. Mine consisted of jeans, a black and white striped tank top, and a black cardigan. Jennifer put on her black leggings and a plain white t shirt with a jean jacket.
"I know. Leave it to them to start the gossip." Don't get me wrong, I love the girls to death. It's just that they try too hard to be accepted. They do what the people want, not what they want the people to want. They can seem fake, but when you get to know their true selves, they are really nice.
"So, you made the move on him?"
"Sort of," I said trying to not make it a big deal.
"But...why?"
"He felt bad when I told you guys I didn't want to kiss him."
"So you kiss him?"
"What else?" I shrugged. I shut my locker and followed the flow of students back to the school.
"Well, did you like it?"
"It wasn't bad?"
"They're gonna give you a lot of crap for this," she sighed.
"Wait, who?"
"Everyone," she said matter-of-factly. "You are dating Marcel. People won't take this news easily. Do you know how many guys have their eye on you?"
"What?" I wasn't a hideous person, but I certainly wasn't the prettiest. Jennifer, Lilly, and Georgia were all more beautiful than I would ever be.
"Guys are always eying you, but you're intimidating to them so they don't try to ask you out."
"Well good." I said relieved. "I don't want any if those guys asking me out. They're all trouble and only want one thing ayways."
I turned the corner and walked towards our locker, squeezing through everyone who was trying to bag their stuff and leave school.
"Not all guys are like that," Jennifer told me.
"But most of them here are. Besides, I have a boyfriend now anyway." I entered my locker combination and pulled it open. I start piling the books that I needed for homework into my backpack.
"It's so weird hearing you say that," Jennifer shrieked. I shook my head at her statement. "I've had a boyfriend before."
"Yeah, but this is different."
"How?" I threw my backpack strap over my shoulder and shut my locker. I leaned against it waiting for Jennifer to gather her things.
"This isn't real." She paused to look at my face.
"Oh, yeah." She did a double take at me, hesitantly, than finished packing her books and shut her locker. We turned around and walked to the back parking lot where our cars were parked. I always need to be reminded that this isn't a real relationship that I was building with Marcel, it just seemed like it.
"So how's your dad?" She asked, probably sensing how uncomfortable I was while sorting through my thoughts about her comment.
"He seems good. He's staying until Tuesday, so I have plenty of time to catch up with him. I'm sure he'll have a lot of stories to tell about his trip to Africa." I laughed.
