I went straight to my room ignoring my mother's questions and my brother's stories. He couldn't die, Marcel was too sweet and genuine. He could be gone any time now. And here I was playing with him like a toy. Trying to control my emotions and his. I must've spent a few hours crying because my mom finally checked on me around eight. Of course when she knocked on the door I rubbed my face until the wetness was gone and I wasn't sniffling anymore. But I could feel the redness on my nose and the puffiness around my eyes. "Addy, what's wrong?"
"Nothing," I said while wiping my nose.
"Addy, don't be stubborn." I couldn't tell her the actual reason why I was crying, I wasn't even supposed to see Marcel today. So I had to do what I do best, pretend.
"Um, really, it's just that I couldn't find a dress." My mum giggled at me.
"Well, you can go any time you need with the girls to find a dress."
"Really?"
"Yup, I know you're excited for it. Just you and the girls, and your other friend," she said referring to Marcel. "You don't need dates to have fun." I laughed nervously wondering if my mum knew something. "Well, back to school tomorrow. Are you gonna eat. We left the food out." I shook my head,"Nah, I'll just have some ice cream." I went downstairs with my mum, grabbed the ice cream, and went back to my room.

"Hi marcel." I was leaning against his locker waiting for him to come. He had on a buttoned shirt that was tucked into his black jeans that were slightly lose fitting. He had his hair slicked to the side and his large glasses resting on his nose. He managed to pull off the look the casual nerdy look.
"Hey Addy! You look nice today."
I moaned,"You tell me that everyday!"
He laughed while opening his locker. "Cuz you look nice everyday."
I moaned again,"You say that everyday too!"
"It's the truth," he shrugged.
"I should probably get going. Lunch?" I asked him. "Yup," he said popping the 'p'.
--------------------------------------------- During literature, marcel and I did our regular drawings of the teacher and passing of notes. We walked to lunch together, but were both surprised when we saw Louis, Lilly, Jennifer, and Georgia sitting at the table with him.
"Is he actually..laughing?" I asked in shock.
Marcel looked at me. "And he's not glaring at them."
We both walked to the table, sitting next to each other. "Hey guys," I greeted them,"I see you met Louis." The girls laughed and nodded their heads. "
He's so funny," Jennifer said. I nodded my head. "Louis, so, am I still going to your game Tuesday?"
"Yeah, sure. I also invited your friends." He gestured to the girls sitting across from him. "Marcel are you coming?" He shook his head. "Nah, family night." Louis nodded quickly then looked back at the girls.
"So anyway, My sister started putting makeup on me..." And that's all I heard before Marcel and I started our own conversation.
"He doesn't know?" He shook his head.
"He doesn't even ask or think something suspicious?"
He shook his head. "You're the only one who knows right now. Well, who knows everything."
The next day I went to Louis' football game, I told my mum that I was going to get some extra studying in after school with Georgia and Lilly, who were the only ones that could come. We were sitting on the bleachers cheering for Louis who just made a goal. Georgia and Lilly got into a deep conversation about how fabulous their dresses are while I watched the game. I was always interested in football, I just couldn't play it. I stood up and cheered again while Louis kicked the ball in the goal. When I sat back down Georgia and Lilly decided to let me join in on their conversation.
