Marcel's POV

"That joke was horrible!" Matt shouted in the garden. All the adults were inside and it was all the teens just sitting and talking.

"I thought my joke was good!" I complained. Laughing at my horrible joke, everyone shook their heads.

"Marcel, you know you suck at jokes!" Gemma told me.

"Alright, Alright. I'm the birthday boy and I think we should play a game. Truth or Dare anyone?" He rubbed his hands together mischievously.

"Uh, I'm not really a fan of that game," Addy scrunched up her nose. "Me either. Everyone always gives me the worst dare." Matt rolled his eyes. "Fine, Marcel and Addy can sit out."

"Actually, I should get going. It's almost ten and my parents will be calling me soon." She stood up, releasing her hand from mine. "Happy Birthday Matt." She hugged him and my sister, offering a wave to the rest of the group. "I'll walk you out." I stood up behind Addy, ignoring the unnecessary comments about Addy and I.

"Leaving so soon?"

"It is almost ten mum."

"Really?" She gasped. "Well, I'll see you soon." She pulled Addy into a hug.

"It was very nice to meet all of you." She told my family. They replied with the same answer and let us go out the door.

"I'm sorry I had to leave so early."

"It's fine. We just have a lot of party animals in our family." She laughed at my comment, probably imagining me as a party animal. "Thanks for coming," I blurted out. I didn't recognize how desperate I sound after thanking her at least thirty times today. "Thanks for letting me crash the party. Since I was uninvited.," she laughed at her comment and held her stomach.

"That was worse than my banana joke," but I couldn't help but to laugh.

"I'm a sucker for bad jokes. Especially puns." She stated.

"Good thing your boyfriend has a lot of puns.I should be pun-ished." She laughed slightly at my joke."I liked your banana joke better." We walked in silence, not knowing what to do. "What are you doing tomorrow?" She was walking right next to me, leading me to her car.

"Erm, I have an appointment tomorrow."

"Oh, fancy," she joked in a posh accent.

"I wouldn't call the hospital fancy."

She looked at me questioningly. "The hospital?" I nodded my head, stuffing my pockets with my hands. "I'm getting a CT scan tomorrow. To check on my disease."

"Your cancer?" Her voice cracked but I couldn't see her face. Her head was bowed low, causing her hair to drape over her face. I nodded my head, knowing she couldn't see it. "I'll be fine." I reassured her happily. She lifted her head and smiled at me. "You'll be fine." She took a deep breath. "I was just wondering if you wanted to hang out or something after my audition tomorrow. But you have plans," she was barely audible.

"Another time."

"Yeah, sure." We awkwardly stood in front of each other, dodging the looks.

"Uh...well good luck on your audition tomorrow. Or break a leg."

"Thanks! I'm a little worried though."

"You could always practice for me." She lazily smiled at me. "Or not," I scratched the back of my neck. I'm being such an idiot right now. Just breathe and kiss her, I scolded myself. "I should go," she finally said, laughing a little. She gave me a long hug in her arms. I inhaled the floral scent that hovered her. She smelled so good, I could lay in her arms forever. Wait, that sounded creepy. I just liked having her in my arms. I couldn't help but think about wrapping my arms around ik her in bed. Being the one to protect her at night. To watch the soft features of her face at rest. Or cuddling up on the couch while watching a scary movie, just so she can whimper into my chest and I can hold her close. All those perfect thoughts disappeared when she let go of me before I wanted her to. "See ya soon."
