"Woah" We all breathed out at the same time. The school really did go the extra mile for this dance. Of course, it's the wintertheme, so everything was white. The lights, the snowflakes taped to the ceiling, drapes, chairs, decorations, everything. Except the crowd of people all ready rubbing their bodies on each other and "dancing".
"I'll be back," Jennifer whispered in my ear and walked to another group of girls. It was just me and Marcel.
"Would you like to sit, Addy?" I nodded, and followed him to a table.
"Kinda loud in here, huh?" I half shouted to him across the thick, white cloth.
"Yeah. I can't even hear myself think," He laughed, also shouting a bit too. We made small talk, talking about each other's day and plans for Christmas.
"I do not really ask for much on Christmas. I feel like I'm taking away from all those people." He explained.
"Marcel, it's Christmas. It's what you're supposed to do."
"I do not want be people spending their income on me because they are 'supposed' to." I smiled at him. There was no way I could argue with him. And his compassion.
"What do you want for Christmas. Addison?" A cheeky smirk on his face.
I shook my head playfully. I wasn't going to tell him. After his speech about taking away from people I would feel awful telling him that at the top of my list was a new phone. He moved on from the question and told me about some of the universities he wants to go to. He had so much ambition, I would hate for that to be taken away from him.
"-the professors are incredibly intelligent I Heard. Plus, they have an outstanding math and science engineering academy that seems like it would be-"
"Do you wanna dance?" I interrupted, slightly rude, but needed.
"D-Dance? Like on the dance-floor?"
I laughed at his scared face, "Yeah, where else."
"Addy. I-I just. It's not that I don't want to but I. I really do not think that I would be. I'm not sure," he stumbled over his words like he was running through a forest with twigs on the ground, tripping himself every time he got back up.
"C'mon. they're playing slow songs now." I pleaded.
"Addison I don't think I will be very good at dancing."
"I thought you couldn't hear yourself think," I challenged.
"Well, the music is quieter, so my thoughts are loud and clear now." I rose from my chair and held out my hand for him. Simply, he turned his head from me.
"Pleeeeaaassse?"I begged. His attention was brought back to me as I stuck out my bottom lip and widened my eyes.
A smile broke onto his face,"Fine," he huffed and stood from his chair, not forgetting to grab my hand on the way. We made our way to the dancefloor but stopped when we were in the safe zone. I just wanted to dance with Marcel, not get dry humped by other horny teens.
"Oh no," Marcel sghed. A slow song. The dancefloor seemed to clear pretty quickly, giving me more room to breathe. "Addy, I cannot dance. I have never danced before."
"Neither have I," I laughed. Marcel din't seem to be as amused with this thought as I was. "You'll be fine, Marcel. Just follow me lead." Acting like I knew how to slow dance was a bad idea. We both were a mess but were very cautious since we had no experience. Step back and to the left and forward and to the right and repeat. I tried doing this until the song was over and th DJ was starting another slow song.
