"Addy. Would you mind going to this photoshoot? Elisa is sick and can't do it. Its with.." Kelly, my boss, looked at her notes, "One Direction."
"Sure. I'd be glad to." I took the paper from Kelly's hands. This is my first big photoshoot. I've been waiting for something like this to come along. Being the artistic editor's assistant for Cosmopolitan wasn't something I was entirely proud of, but since the editor was leaving next week, the job would be all mine. And who else can say they work for Cosmopolitan. I was lucky to get this job and so very thankful for it. Moving to New York I tried to make as many friends as possible so I was nice to literally everyone. Thank God I was because that's how I was offered this job. Getting used to New York took a while though, it's so different from everything I'm used to in London. I walked to the room where the shoot would be held, fixing my pencil skirt as it rid up a little bit. I was a little nervous to be in the presence of the worlds biggest band. Possibly a billion dollar band. I entered the room, teams of photographers, camera people, stylists, two interviewers prepping the boys, and about 5 racks of clothes were lined up on the side of the room.
"Addy, over here." I walked over to Roger, the director of the shoot. "Now I was thinking black and white, kind of a passionate yet playful look. Something to make the fans go wild."
"Yeah, sounds great to me." I answered.
"Ugh, your accent's adorable." I laughed at him, he always commented on my British accent and its difference to his American one.
"Someone bring the boys over please." He summoned. I took out some paper and started to draw out some ideas in mind. Sketching some poses and positions for the boys and getting together how the single shots would look. The five boys walked over, shaking hands with Roger. One part did scare me about One Direction though. I knew 3/5 of them. Not many people can say they went to school with Louis Tomlinson, Zayn Malik, and Liam Payne and were hated by all of them probably. I always thought Harry Styles looked like my little "high school fling", but I never paid too much attention to it. I avoided eye contact with all of them as they shook Roger's hand and got into position for the camera.
"Addy, look up and smile a bit. These are some good looking boys. You could use a boyfriend."
"Oh, Piss off Roger." he laughed at me before looking back to the boys. "We're going to do a few test shots, boys. Make sure everything's running smoothly." The lights flashed a few a times as the boys talked and were fixed up by multiple makeup stylists.
"Addy, would you mind running over poses with them quickly?" There was no way I could refuse to this, I couldn't let my fear of my past ruin my career. I needed this to be my big break. I slowly walked to the boys, preparing my small speech I would give them. Just get in and get out.
"Hello, boys. I'll just be -"
"You're British!" The blonde one , Niall, pointed out, as if I didn't already know.
"I am. I grew up in London." He nodded his head. I looked around the group, Zayn and Liam recognizing me. I could tell because their mouths were agape and their eyebrows raised. Louis had no reaction and Harry looked just like Zayn ad Liam. "Anyway, I'll be going over a few general ideas we would like to get out of this shoot. Just be a little playful with each other, but we would like to see you all in a line. Two facing the right and two facing the left while one is in the center." I demonstrated my idea and looked at my clipboard to see if there was anything I forgot. "That'll be it for now, I'll give you more ideas if you need any, but you all seem to be pretty experienced. And we'll be doing single shots last. Any questions?" I tried to play it cool, like I wasn't terribly shaking and crying inside.
