Chapter 11: SURPRISE SURPRISE

KAVYA’S POV:

            I got a pocket got a pocketful of sunshine

            I got a love and I know that it’s all mine

I heard the song and rolled over in my bed. I got up suddenly realizing that it was my phone ringing. I got up and searched for it. After about listening to it ring for another 6 times and listening to a dozen pocketful of sunshine’s, I finally picked it up.

“Where have you been?” I heard an exasperated Ahaan ask me.

“Sleeping,” I replied yawning.

“You know the time right?” he asked.

“Nope,” I replied popping the ‘p’.

He chuckled now. “Babe, it’s two in the afternoon.”

Two? How could it be two in the afternoon? I went over to my desk and checked my clock and it was really two.

“Oh god we slept straight 10 hours.” I replied.

“We?” he asked.

“Yeah, I am having an affair Ahaan. Sorry you got to know about it now,” I answered giggling.

“Very funny,” he replied a bit irritated.

“Aliya came over yesterday evening. She’s waking up now. I will call you once she leaves,” I answered as I saw Aliya getting up.

“Ok don’t forget,” he replied.

I went over to Aliya and sat next to her and pulled her into a bear hug.

She smiled and said,” Somebody seems to be in a good mood. Could the reason be Ahaan?” I didn’t want to bring up Ahaan in front of her since guys were such a sensitive topic. She understood though.

“One guy ditches me and now guys are taboo? Common I’m fine! I know you like him and you can always talk about him with me.” I just updated her a bit. I still felt bad about the Rohan – incident and didn’t feel like gloating.

She listened to me with a smirk on her face.

“Who would have thought you and Ahaan would be a couple?” she asked.

I giggled and said, “Remember the time when everybody was taking my case back in college, the topic of guys was taboo? You were awesome. You actually went a whole six months having no crushes so I would feel better. You know Aliya, you are brilliant.”

She just smiled and said smugly, “I know.” We both burst out laughing. After having a shower we both went and had our lunch. She left a while later.

After she left I was about to call Ahaan when I heard the bell ring. I went over to open it and found Aliya standing there smiling as if she had won the lottery. She rushed inside and hugged me. I was going to fall due to the hug’s impact. Looking at her with a confused expression I listened to her explain her bubbliness, “Guess what happened as soon as I left. My mother called me and told me that Rohan had called up last night and taken my number. He had asked about me and taken my address. My mother realised what was happening.”

Ofcourse, I thought to myself. Since, he made it so obvious. She continued,” And as if on cue as soon as I finished talking with her, I got a call from Rohan. He had already called a couple of times in the morning when we were in deep slumber. AND he asked me out.” She said the last part squealing.

I burst out laughing and hugged her. She still continued. ”Kavu you are right. Everything happens for the best.”

I smiled and this time it was my chance to act all smug, “I am always right. I am so happy for you.”

She was really happy. Her joy couldn’t be contained. She now looked at me with complete innocence, “Help me with the date?”

“Totally,” I replied. I was going to make the guy regret not calling her much sooner. I went in took my purse and left with her.

On my way I called Ahaan and told him about my plans. I could meet him tomorrow.
