After the bell went off, signifying that class was over, I collected my things for the my next period. It was the last period of the day and I was very pleased that the class was Team Sports. Since it was the first day I knew all coach was going to do was let us play around and I needed that. Something to clear my head, so I would be on top of my game for practice.
My head was full of things, but all those things came down to one thing. More like one person, Breanna Moore, yes, 'Little Miss Nerd Herd'. I've had an unhealthy obsession with her since middle school, I don't know how it came about, but the moment my eyes first laid eyes on her it felt like everything stopped because she was just so absolutely stunning.
I just wish that I could actually approach her though, but I'd chicken out every time! Plus this semester there's was no escaping her like usual. She was my assigned cheerleader, she was in three of my classes, and I'm pretty sure her locker stood across from mine. Last year I could easily dodge her, but I don't see that happening this year at all.
I'm afraid that if I do somehow get her to be mine I'll just pull some bull like my dad. A man that turned my whole outlook on love around my farther is no type of farther or husband in my eyes. He has cheated on my mother multiple of times, gets drunk for the fun of it, and is slowly dragging our family down. Not only does he screw up every damn time he has neglected my little brother from the day he was born and he only takes an interest in me when it comes to speaking with scouts.
The sole reason I picked up so many sports was to get away from home, mainly him, I couldn't stand being around him. My dad has done nothing for our family, but tear us apart.
I snapped from my thoughts when one of my buddies, Luke, began talking to me.

"So bro are we hitting up Josh's spot Friday or what?"

Josh Dunn, the ultimate wild card of the team. This kid was as rich as they come and was always throwing some sort of get together. Everyone who was anyone got invited to his parties and now that school was starting his annual 'First Friday' back to school party was approaching.

"Eh. I dunno man."

"Come on bro! It's the first party of his I convinced Taylor to go to."

"Taylor? As in your girlfriend?"

He nodded, pulling out his phone to show me the messages of their agreement.

"She's even bringing her hot friend Brooke, but she's also bringing her little nerd friend."

I cringed at his words, knowing who he was referring to.

"Dude, she has a name. Don't be a jerk."

I defend Breanna as we walked into the locker room to change. I had left Luke at the door of the locker room stunned with confusion and went to change. It wasn't right for him to call her that, yeah she was crazy smart, but I found it attractive as hell. Most girls in this school play the dumb card to look cute, but all it did was make it easier for guys to get what they really wanted. I found the whole thing ridiculous.

I got changed into my gym clothing rather quickly to escape Luke's and the other guy's big mouths. I left going into Coach Hon's office to steal candy like always. When I walked into the office he was at his desk looking at some documents.

"Hey Coach."

I greeted taking a jolly rancher from the jar on his desk.

"Sometimes I get all excited when you come through those doors, but I figure you only come for my candy."

Coach Hon joked looking up from his documents. I gave him a small smile before taking a seat, looking down at the floor.

"Uh-oh, I know that face, what's on your mind Chase?"

You see this is why Coach Hon is my favorite out of all. He knows everything about me, from my personal issues to just my regular issues. Coach Hon had  been the one who got me into sports, he made me play everything, from football in fall to baseball in the spring. Not only was he on top of my sports he made sure my grades were in line at all times, it was like having a parent work at the school. He was also my go to person, whenever I couldn't talk to my mom, he was there. I could talk to him about anything and everything.

"Not much really."

I lied still looking at the floor.

"Oh it's a girl on your mind, that's a first, but is it her."

He asked immediately catching me in my lie. I snapped my head up towards his direction, seeing him smiling at me.

"Son, you've got to talk to her sooner or later. You saw it this morning she's no longer the same."

What he said was true and I know it too. This morning she'd walked in showing off her beauty, not hiding it, and throughout the day the expressed a new level of confidence everywhere I saw her. At one point she even smiled at me!

"Since it looks like you won't be growing a pair soon, I'm gonna pair you and her up for every partner activity."

I stared at him with widen eyes.

"No buts, now let's get this class going."

He got up from his desk walking towards the door. I quickly got up following after him.

"Come on coach I'll do it sometime this week."

He looked back at me with a smirk before continuing on his path to the gym floor.

"I give you till the end of the period."

He said before fully stepping onto the gym floor greeting his class that sat before him. In the crowd of students I spotted her.
Letting out heavy sigh I joined the rest of my friends in the bleachers, this was going to be a long period.
