I laughed at Brooke as she checked her watch for the millionth time in the last two minutes, she was eager for this class period to end for some reason.
"Can I ask why you keep checking your watch like the lunatic?"
Taylor asked walking up beside the two of us.
"Oh look who decided to join us Bre. What? Small nut-sack Luke got boring?"
Brooke teased Taylor, who now was a light shade of pink. I had only laughed at the whole thing because it was funny, but the laughing and teasing all cut short when Chase Bradford approached our group.
"Hey Breanna could I borrow you for a sec?"
He asked not fully looking at me.
"Boy! You can borrow her for life!"
Brooke said pushing me right into him. I gave her a stone cold glare before turning towards Chase, giving him a soft smile. I followed him off to the side of the gym away from most of the class. I noticed he'd been a little un easy, like something was bothering him. We kinda just stood in the same spot not saying a word.
"So-"
I started to say something, but Chase quickly cut me off.
"Breanna there's this party on Friday and I was wondering if you'd like to attend with me?"
He said really quickly, but not that quickly to the point where I couldn't understand. I found it cute that he was nervous, but then again I had my doubts.
"I would love to Chase."
I answered his question. My answer seemed to have caught him by surprise cause he looked ready for rejection.
"But this isn't a some sort of dare your buddies put you up to, right?"
I asked before fully accepting the invitation. When I asked this a some sort of disgust/sad look washed over Chase's face.
"Absolutely not. This in no prank I assure you that, but how about prove that to you instead of just tell you?"
I felt bad once he finished off what he was saying, I didn't want him to feel as if he needed to prove himself worthy just to take me on a date.
"Alright then Bradford, how do you plan on proving me wrong?"
"Instead of me picking you for the party Friday night, meet me after school at the boardwalk and there I'll prove you that this is legit."
I smiled, nodding my head.
"It's settled. Tomorrow after school I'll meet you at the docks Bradford."
"Catch you later Bre."
I could feel the heat in my cheek as I watched him walk away. I, Breanna Moore, had a date with Chase Bradford Friday afternoon. I was mentally freaking out when Brooke all of a sudden appeared in front of me.
"Alright hot stuff, give Big Mama the details."
Smiling at her, I wiggled my eyebrows.
"It's nothing really. I just so happen to have a date Friday afternoon."
I said trying to act calm, but going crazy on the inside.
"No way, Chase Bradford did not just ask you on a date."
Taylor, out of nowhere, butted in before Brooke could react. I was very surprised at her comment, but I let it slide.
"Anyways girl, we most definitely going shopping for your date Friday."
Brooke in putted brushing off Taylor's comment also. I grabbed her hand and began blabbering on about all the places we could go, and I purposely excluded Taylor out. If she wanted to act brand new, well she was going to get the same attitude from me. I have no time for wishy washy friends.

After school and practice both Brooke and I headed back to my place. Brooke was going to start over for dinner, it was supposed to be Brooke and Taylor, but Taylor had plans. Arriving at my house Brooke and I both started planning on what to make for the evening.
"So how about Avocado BLTs with french fries?"
"No I'm feeling Mac and cheese, not fries."
I nodded agreeing with Brooke's change, getting out the material needed.
"So are we going to talk about Tay? Or are we gone play dumb?"
Brooke asked as she was getting the bacon on the frying pan.
"B, you know how she gets when she's with him."
Every time Taylor and Luke would get back together it would be as if Taylor switched up. She would start acting brand new, like she was above everyone else and she'll follow Luke around like a lost puppy.
"I know Bre, but this time I'm fed up with it. Yeah she's our best friend, but why does a break up have to show that we're her best friends."
"I know it's not fair and it doesn't sound like she's putting effort into our friendship-"
"That's exactly it! Why do we gotta put in the effort for someone who's not gonna even appreciate it?! Since Luke happens to be all she cares about why doesn't she go be his best friend."
A heavy sigh fell from my lips knowing Brooke was right, but I couldn't bring myself to fully believe it.
"You're right Brooke, but for now how about giving Tay her space? We've done this before, you know, when we kinda had to do our own thing till she came around."
"Yeah but this time she'll come around to one friend, not two."
