>>breanna

As the day went on both Braxton and Chase were in and out of sleep. I couldn't blame them, they probably both had one heck of a night, but I made sure before they went back to sleep they had something to eat. For now, it was just me alone and left to my thoughts. I felt like I needed to talk to someone, but I honestly didn't know who and I couldn't put Chase's business out there. I just wanted to know how to handle this situation and be there for Chase. Soon he was going to be shoved back into the reality of high school and he was going to have to put on the facade acting like everything was okay.
My phone rang shaking me out of my deep thoughts, it was my mom and I immediately answered

"How is she?"

I asked before my mom could even get a word out.

"Breanna I'm going to stay the night with her and the boys will stay with you. Make sure you and Chase get to school tomorrow, but as for Braxton I'll come to get him the morning."

I was confused with my mom's orders yet there were so simple. Why would Chase and I go to school, but not Braxton?

"Okay, but how is she mom?"

"She's very weak Bre. Right now she needs a lot of rest, but I can't take her to the hospital just yet."

"Wait for what?! Why!?"

"For now this whole thing should be kept between the people that know. This town is small and I can't have those boys going through more than what they're already going through. Now you make sure they are well-fed, rested, and comfortable. See you tomorrow."

We bid our goodbyes and hung up the phone. Mom was right we should keep this on the low, but I didn't want Chase's dad to think what he did was okay. He needed to experience some kind of consequence for what he did. How could someone be so okay with ruining the lives of their family members? I wanted to get up from this couch and go over to Chase's house or maybe his dad's office and confront him because this man was just full of it. Though for now, I was just going to play the little clueless girlfriend and wait for the opportunity.

the morning

When the morning rolled around I was dead tired, but I got up and started getting Braxton ready. I gave him a shower and all, but I had to dress him in the clothes in wore yesterday. He didn't seem like he had an issue with it he just asked me about his mom, of course, I gave the kiddy answer you always give a child.

"It's all going to be okay."

As I was getting him all finished and ready for breakfast his brother finally woke up.

"Morning Chase."

I said trying to give him my best smile. He gave me a silent nod and just left the room. I knew what was going on and I wasn't about to let that happen. Finishing up with Braxton I quickly made him something to eat and let him enjoy his meal in front of the tv. As for me, I went back upstairs to the guest room. As predicted there lay, Chase wrapped up in the blankets. He was downgrading and I knew it because I once was there too, but I couldn't let that happen to someone especially if I was there. I was going to prevent Chase from hitting an all-time low and push him to fight and I knew the perfect person to help out.
I let him stay in bed until my mom came back and picked Braxton up. When she came she brought a change of clothes for both of the boys and gave me an update on their mom. She was doing well, but sleeping a lot and having a little trouble breathing, but even with that my mom said she would be alright in the long run. I also let her know the night went the boys and of course she reminded me to get to school.
After she changed Braxton and got him fully in the car she gave me a goodbye hug and told me she'd call with any new information. I said goodbye to her and once I knew for sure her car was out of the neighborhood I raced back upstairs to Chase. Still, in the same spot, I gently nudged him. He didn't move the first time but after a few pokes and nudges he finally turned over and looked at me

"If you think I'm going to school than you can keep dreaming because I'm not."

"No I'm not making you go to school, but you are getting up. We have somewhere to be."

Chase gave me a confused look, but all I did was yank the covers off him and throw him his shoes.

"You better be outside in one minute."

I said before leaving the room. Once out of the room I went downstairs to go out to my car, but before going out to the car I slipped on my shoes and then headed out. Right as I got into the car and started it up, Chase came out and got it.

"Okay now, do you want to tell me what you're up to?"

"Nope."

I replied and pulled off, driving in the direction of a destination I knew all too well.
